This is being billed as the Twyman-Stokes Classic and if you're not familiar with that story line already, I'd suggest looking that one up. I'm sure GoBearcats will do a recap of the story at some point this weekend. I'll post a link when I find a good one.

I'm kind of surprised this got buried on ESPN+ but MNF is on so I guess they had to put it somewhere.

Minnesota comes in 2-0 with decisive victories over North Dakota and St. Thomas. In other words, hey haven't played anyone yet either. This should be a good measuring stick game for where the Bearcats are because this should be a step up in competition level for both teams.

I, for one, am glad this game is at home this season. Historically we are 7-2 vs the Gophers including the building opener for Shoemaker Center

The Eagles finished 5th in the Patriot League last year. With no stats to go on and no idea how much their roster turned over, I can't really analyze them at all.

Another week, another Top 10 opponent. Utah comes into Nippert as #6. To my knowledge they've never played in Nippert before. That's usually a bad sign for ranked teams as Texas Tech found out last Saturday.

That said, I think Utah is much better than Texas Tech and Devon Dampier reminds me a bit of Avery Johnson at K-State in that he is basically the whole offense. Against Houston last night he both ran and threw for 150 yards . He's only the 5th (?) player in NCAA history to do that in FBS.

Utah has not missed a beat on defense despite the departure of former HC Kyle Whittingham to Michigan.

Looks like the Cats got ESPN's attention after the Texas Tech game. I'm expecting a raucous costumed crowd for Halloween afternoon.

Big XII Officiating

As much as we love to harp on the BIG XII refs and you think we had it bad with weird call and overturns. Today was another episode of that in the UC game but nothing can prepare you for the absolute cluster that happened in Orlando during the the last 2:00 or so of regulation.

I'll try and get this right. We had a UCF fumble overturned because the quarterbacks arm was moving forward. BYU personal foul on the same play and UCF moved from the 45 to 30 and gets a first down. A couple of plays later Scott Frost calls two plays in the huddle, the second of which was a spike to set up the winning kick. QB has brain fart and spikes the ball on second down instead of third. Kicker comes out, After two consecutive timeouts by BYU, the kick is blocked, recovered by the kicker and run forward. His helmet gets ripped off at the end of the play by BYU. Flag. Flag is picked up. Refs decide that the ball goes to BYU on downs. Replay. The kick was on 3rd down. UCF keeps the ball and sends a different kicker in because the kicker's helmet came off so UCF has to sub. Confusion. Replay. UCF was inside the period for a 10 second runoff and the player's helmet came off. UCF has no timeouts. There's :06 on the clock so regulation ends without the "winning" kick ever happening.

Then OT was mostly drama free. UCF wins.
