Sounds like we're playing Georgia Tech at a good time.

They're still missing one of their starters from last season, 6'2 5th-year guard Lance Terry, who averaged 10 ppg but hasn't played yet this season due to injury.

Baye Ndongo was their highest-rated freshman recruit as a 6'9 big man but has also yet to debut due to a hand injury.

The Yellow Jackets have played three games thus far, all at home before very small crowds (3700 average). Five players average at least 10 ppg, led by Kelly Miles with 21.0.

They have not shot well from the floor (42.0%) and have been poor both from outside the arc (29.9%) and the line (59.7%). However, they are a strong offensive rebounding team (18.3/g). From those numbers, it appears that they demonstrate at least a bit of throw it at the basket and go get it.

At the other end of the floor, they defend the perimeter very well, holding their opponents to a miserable 24.1%. (Either that or the teams they've played can't shoot.) The Jackets average about 7 steals/g.

KenPom ranks GT presently as #136 (UC #49), with the Cats about 14-point home favorites.

Given the response to Aziz on social media, I'd say a fair amount of fans are both following and excited to see what he brings to the table.

hopefully they will cheer when he gets back on defense and stop those cheap bunnies on breaks as well as drives. Looking so forward to watching that after last year's "nice guys" defense.

That is an excellent idea. With all the angst, anticipation, and confusion surrounding Aziz's recruitment it would be nice to show him some bearcat love.

    Odds & Ends:

    - Georgia Tech's freshman forward Baye Ndongo (hand) is expected to make his debut on Wednesday, per Jeff Goodman. The 6'9 Senegal native was #126 in the 247 Composite rankings.
    - From UC: Cincinnati is seeking its eighth-straight win over an ACC opponent, a streak that began against Maryland in Maui (2009). The Bearcats defeated Louisville in Maui last year and Virginia Tech in the NIT.
    - From UC: This is the first meeting between the teams since Cincinnati's 87-70 win in the 1996 Sweet 16, played in Lexington, Ky.
    - From UC: Cincinnati associate head coach Chad Dollar spent the 2011-16 seasons at Georgia Tech, with the latter two as associate head coach.
    - Personally, I would love to see UC stick with its same starting lineup and they bring in Aziz after a dead ball so he can get a big ovation when he checks in
    - Georgia Tech's top two scorers are third-year players, while most of the other players have transferred in at some point
    - Current KenPom ratings: Cincinnati #49, Georgia Tech #136
    - GT's coaching staff includes Karl Hobbs, the former George Washington head coach, as associate head coach; NBA veteran Bonzi Wells is also an assistant

I'm looking forward to seeing what this team looks like with a legitimate center and Vik in at center.
