BYU sleepwalking for 30 minutes, lost to Duquesne. Fell behind by 14, lost by 4. Deserved to lose.

Big 12 is 0-1 after #11 Duquesne holds off a nice comeback from #6 BYU (sealed by Duquesne's, wait for it, 94% FT shooter). BYU was 8/24 from three.

BYU has run into a team that can defend the perimeter. Congratulations to Duquesne for their 1st NCAA win in 55 years. Dambrot can't retire yet.

Blow out losses should count too. Virginia had too many of those to have been in the field.

Right, they weren't a great team. Selection isn't about picking the best teams. If it was, they would just use Kenpom rankings. 6 seed South Carolina would have missed the tournament and Cincinnati would be in. Selection is about putting together the best resume of wins and losses. It matters who actually wins close games.

Kansas' Kevin McCullar is out for the entire NCAA tournament. Adjust your brackets accordingly.

Colorado State had a nice win last night but no one is talking about it because everyone is too busy obsessing about Virginia (at least that is what I have seen on Twitter). UVA does not have an exciting brand, they weren't great this year, they had a very flawed resume, etc. ... but none of the teams that barely missed the NCAA had great resumes either. If they were better, they would have been in.

Last team in is always splitting hairs, and results in the tournament don't say much at all about who deserved qualification. Virginia had a good resume. The Big East and Big 12 went 0-5 tonight in the NIT while the ACC was 2-0. What does that mean? Nothing.

Virginia blown out by Colorado State, 67-42. According to the Net ranking, Virginia didn’t belong. Another fail/bias by the committee?
