I was reading about the mix-up concerning UC-Riverside getting an invite to the NIT, not knowing about it, and accepting an invitation to the Crown. Here from The Athletic:
“Big West Conference commissioner Dan Butterly stepped in and got UC Riverside a bit more time to work through the options. Mallette had to clear things with his president, general counsel and talk with his head coach. There were travel arrangements to figure out. There was a buyout that needed to be sorted out with the CBI; a tournament that charges an entry fee. Mallette declined to disclose the cost of the buyout.”
Has anybody read about teams paying an Entry Fee for playing in The Crown?

Any idea if the NCAA Tourney will be offering NIL to individual players? I like the concept and would like to see Bowls reapply this to football players to encourage more participationOriginally posted by GoBearcats31 View PostCollege Basketball Crown will return April 1-5, 2026 in Las Vegas, featuring 8 teams (including top two Big Ten, Big 12, Big East teams to miss the NCAA Tournament + two wildcards).

I can state with high confidence that UC will not be playing in the Crown in 2026.

College Basketball Crown secures ho-hum audience for debut
https://awfulannouncing.com/fox/coll...nce-debut.html
Sunday’s College Basketball Crown title game, which aired at 5 p.m. ET on Fox, shortly after the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament wrapped up on ABC, drew 822,000 viewers for Nebraska’s win over UCF. The audience was 62% bigger than the NIT championship game Thursday night on ESPN (508,000 viewers).
...
Across the entire competition, College Basketball Crown games averaged 260,000 viewers on Fox and FS1. That beat the average for this year’s NIT on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU (212,000 viewers), though would have fallen short of the NIT audience with ESPNU games excluded.
...
If Fox’s goal was incremental viewership gains, then the College Basketball Crown was a success. In the absence of any postseason college basketball coverage, something is better than nothing. Whether the Crown will have longevity, as Fox play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson suggests, will be determined in the years to come.

This run is making it clear that Dawkins doesn't use analytics. Here are the BPMs for UCF this year:Originally posted by swilsonsp4 View PostUCF will play the Huskers after knocking off Nova, 104-98, in OT. Darius Johnson hung 42 on the Wildcats.
6.0 Darius Johnson
3.6 Jordan Ivy-Curry
3.4 Nils Machowski
3.0 Keyshawn Hall
3.0 Mustapha Thiam
Keyshawn Hall had the highest usage at 28% - that's a coaching choice based on "eye test" or "feel" or whatever subjective term you want to use. Getting him out of the way and letting their more efficient players take the shots has made them a much better team. Darius Johnson has always been their best player and now he's able to put up traditional counting stats instead of watching Hall brick shots.
We're in the same boat with Wes Miller and Jizzle James.

UCF 104 - Nova 98. I am guessing that Nebraska will win tomorrow. Just based on they had the early game and UCF had the late game that went into overtime. Darius Johnson scored 42 points.

UCF and Nova are in OT. Nova went on a 9-0 run to take a 3-point lead around the 4-minute mark of regulation.

I didn't watch much of the NE-Georgetown game. The Huskers led throughout and coasted to an 81-69 win. NE will face Boise State Saturday night.
