I am optimistic about our new team & coach & can't wati for the season to start. I did not feel that way the last 2 seasons & kept going to games only because I'm a diehard fan.

^^^^^ I see that we are below the 8th place in the Big12. I also see that we play as a team and have some exciting games. The team will play as a team. The players that that coach brings from his old team will help teach the new team with the expectations. I suspect that we will see a new disciplined team.

So now with most of the roster filled out, what are our expectations for the coming season? What will it take for CJC to be considered a first year success? NCAA, top half of the Big 12?

How bad could it be to wish we had Wes Miller back? Last place in the Big 12? Playing in the Crown, blown out at home by Eggs?

I’m looking forward to the season and think 9-9 in the Big 12 would exceed expectations. But I’m not drinking the Kool-Aid until I see how we perform under the new coach.

That is something that Miller did NOT understand. Miller never grew enough to change his approach even when it was not working; 2) Calhoun mentioned that he wants to recruit players that fit his style. He mentions the he wants to recruit the RIGHT guys for the program; 3) Calhoun talks about teaching guys to READ the game by training their eyes; 4) He has numerous coaching influences from Huggins, Mazzula (Boston Celtics head coach), Cronin, and Jim Tressel just to name the ones that I can think of right now, and 5) Calhoun does NOT look at the Xavier game as just another game. He wants UC to take pride in winning the X game.

In closing, talk is cheap. You cannot win a game by talking. On the other hand, from what I have seen of Calhoun's coaching at Utah State and his basketball philosophies, I sincerely believe that Calhoun is going to win a lot of games at UC.

The real challenges for Calhoun might be can he bring in BIG XII caliber players to completely fill a roster (giving the constraints of NIL) and can he consistently win the BIG games on the schedule. What killed Miller was that he could not win the big games on the schedule.

Good luck to Coach Calhoun and UC basketball going forward.
As far as NIL is concerned, Chad Brendel has stated that the staff will have plenty to build a solid B12 lineup.

Their podcast is huge, they have a huge audience -- this type of stuff is wonderful/priceless PR for the program/UC athletics.
