Here's Pete Thamel's latest take on realignment ($). One interesting factoid is that the current head of the P12 governing body is the WA prez. That could be awkward, if she's trying to get the Huskies out of the P12.

Their applications may not be the only ones the Big 12 offices receive in the coming days. The Big 12 cannot "invite" schools directly, but we know the networks and back channel messages are happening with all 10 Pac teams not names USC or UCLA.

I just checked the other 3 schools rumored to be headed here and there's nothing scheduled for them so far. Arizona has a state board of regents that handles both schools so if they schedule something it'll be for both UA and ASU.

Apparently Colorado has a BoT meeting tonight. Not sure if that's a planned or emergency meeting.

Update: It was not planned. : https://regents.cu.edu/events

Pat Forde -- Column: Is this Notre Dame's last Independence Day as an independent? "The next decision" really rests with the Fighting Irish an industry source says. An update on where that decision could be headed. https://www.si.com/college/2022/07/04/college-sports-is-waiting-for-signs-from-notre-dame-but-independent-irish-can-afford-to-wait

Sounds like the Big 12 could pick off some of the better brands in the Pac 12. Interesting how this article highlights "brands" more so than "media size", which is what you always heard previously. Washington State, Oregon State, Stanford, Cal and Colorado could be in trouble.

247sports.com's AZ staff writer states that Wildcats leadership will meet with the B12 brass Tuesday to discuss transferring to the B12, along with ASU, CO & UT. No other details are available.

Interesting that all four of the new recruits to the Big 12 make the cut.

Here's Dennis Dodd's latest musings on the situation at hand, including a possible B12/P12 merger (UC would make the cut, but OR St, WA St, KS, KS St, IA St & WV wouldn't).

I also will always support UC and happy we’re in the Big 12. We earned the right to be in this conference. Other schools look or Pitt and Louisville were so anxious to join ACC, now they are both also rans in a super conference. I like our situation

Here's an interesting piece centered around the financial projections from Fox Sports' former CEO to the effect that OR/WA to the B10 isn't a lock. That is, unless the B10 schools agree either to take a share cut or the two schools receive reduced payouts for awhile, since their markets don't justify the full amount each existing school would collect otherwise. Then, there's the Phil Knight factor:
