All 4 of those games took place in the early '90's (1990, 1991, 1992, 1994). The Bearcats' records those years were: 1-10, 4-7, 3-8, 2-8-1. Those were some wretched teams that Tim Murphy and Rick Minter churned out (Minter's inaugural season). The game in 1990 was the season opener, down at Riverfront Stadium. A hearty crowd of 6,563 bothered to show up. (I'm sure I was one of them.)

Back in the 80's and 90's, UC had to play a couple of games at Riverfront to keep their Division 1 status because Nippert did not seat enough. It was required to have games at a stadium that had the required seats.

Why can't UC make the same claim?....... Bowling Green roster is full of Greater Cincinnati players...... The Falcons have 11 players who played high school football in Greater Cincinnati, with some having already played games at Nippert Stadium with their teams.

There are ten Falcons from SW Ohio who left HS during this staff's tenure. Only one had P4 offers. Here's the list:

I then took a look at 247sports.com's list of Top 250 players in the 2025 class. A grand total of 7 are from Ohio. Three of those are Columbus-bound, including the only 5*, a kid from Bellefontaine. The others are headed to AL, GA, MO, K-State (Hamilton HS).

The US population has shifted southward. Ohio has, for instance, lost seats in the US H of R, down to 15. The peak year was 1930 (24). There were 21 as recently as 1970. A smaller proportion of overall residents translates to a smaller proportion of kids playing/excelling at football (and other sports). So, the GM and his staff have a choice: fish in a shrinking pond from which the P2 take the decreasing number of choice fish, or go to a large, well-stocked lake—down South.

thank you for the research. i too would like to see the staff get some "hometown heroes", but i wasn't sure how many local kids were projected at the P4 level. sadly, not as many as I thought. with that in mind, and with nothing against any of the young men on BGUS's roster, i can understand why CSS and the gang are looking outside of the state of cincinnati for talent.
