The Jeff Sessions-Tommy Tuberville US Senate campaign has gotten dirty, but Sessions did get off one funny jab:

He tweeted last week that Tuberville "should man up and face his fears," promising "to use small one-syllable words in a debate."

Political opinions aside, the main point coming from the poll is that Tuberville has a legitimate chance to join the US Senate. He's up 12 points on Jeff Sessions, a figure that grew after President Trump endorsed him over his estranged AG. Alabama is a bright red state. No Dem, aside from Doug Jones, has won a US Senate race down there since the 1990's and that was Richard Shelby, who switched parties to the GOP in 1994.

Jones won a special election to replace Sessions after the latter joined the Trump administration. His opponent, Roy Moore, is a controversial character to say the least. He was dogged throughout the campaign with questions surrounding unproven allegations of sexual misconduct. Jones benefited from that. He likely will not be able to hold the seat if either Tuberville or Sessions gets the GOP nod.

Hard Pass....on both of them. Jones voting record is virtually identical to that of the other senator from Alabama, Richard Shelby (https://projects.propublica.org/repr...d-c-shelby/115).
So it wont make any difference which one gets elected....flip a coin...end result is the same. The fact that Jones' voting record virtually mirrors the record of an old curmudgeon like Shelby who's been entrenched in Washington for 30 years tells you all you need to know. As I have painfully pointed out many times (even on here) about our political system, BOTH parties are corrupt as **** and mainly all about getting re-elected and enriching themselves. I have no use for any of them.

Tuberville has to get past Jeff Sessions first. There's a still a run-off pending.

Adam Niemeyer of the Football Video Dept at UC has opened up with a few stories about Tubs. Interesting read from his personal blog.

I didn't know that they had "Tele-Senators"???? CTT came in first in the Alabama Senate Republican Primary yesterday. He does have to go to a runoff in 3 weeks, but if he wins that, he will likely be Alabama's next U.S. Senator.

Good grief. Tuberville is Exhibit A for why Americans dislike D.C. politics. He's terrible.....and so are the other guys running for that senate seat...from both parties.
IMHO we desperately need a viable 3rd party that's not beholden to the enormous amounts of money that has corrupted the current 2 party system.

If Tubbs wins maybe he will tank Alabama just like he tanked us. His mode of operation lately is to be retired on the job and make lots of commercials. I guess politics is perfect for him.

In the latest Mason-Dixon poll of tomorrow's GOP primary for US Senate in Alabama, Jeff Sessions and Tubbs are within the margin of error (31%-29%). It's unlikely that either will reach 50%, so there will be a runoff between those two for the right to take on incumbent Doug Jones. The winner of the GOP race is expected to clobber Jones.

Here’s a new article from The Athletic ($) on TT’s efforts in the AL senate race. I’m not reraising this subject to launch into a political discussion; just to follow through on his future, given that he spent 4 years here, for better or worse.
