Tyler is #84 in the new Rivals 2024 rankings, a 4-spot slide (of course). He is the 10th rated PF in the class.

Tyler is rated higher by the other major recruiting sites/services, each of which will update at some point as well.

Pilgrim certainly knows what UC basketball is. I consider that a good thing for McKinley.

Interesting choice given WW's lack of recent basketball success, but their new coach Mike Pilgrim is a reputable name in the local hoops scene, and TM's a smart kid so I trust his judgment.

Wes Miller got it done, landing versatile 6-foot-8 forward Tyler McKinley in June. McKinley is an absolute workhorse on both ends of the floor, checking off multiple boxes and serving as the ultimate glue guy on a team. McKinley’s soft hands, great footwork and an unrelenting motor enable him to outwork and out-maneuver opposing bigs in the paint. McKinley, who checks in at No. 84 overall in the Rivals150, was a major reason why Link Academy (Mo.) won the GEICO Nationals title in April and because of the plethora of ways he can help a team win, will undoubtedly be an intricate piece for Miller the day he gets to campus.

Four-star PF Tyler McKinley (Cincinnati)

There is something about a big man who does what you want big men to do. The little things like setting tough/sturdy screens, running from rim to rim every play, and banging on the glass, talking on multiple players for rebounds.

Cincinnati commitment Tyler McKinley did all of these things, and the production showed. McKinley played with a great motor. He has a strong frame – one capable of continuing to add good weight without losing mobility – with good length. His hands were excellent, both on the move and in traffic. He finished with touch, showed excellent passing acumen, and he defended. McKinley played with a confidence we have not seen from him in a while.

McKinley is the No. 62 player in the 2024 On3 150. Through four games at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, he has averaged a workmanlike 12.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 61.8 percent from the field.

While they definitely did not lead the camp in touches, the effort of Tyler McKinley, Thomas Sorber, and Morez Johnson was not in question. Each of the three had coaches in attendance and each staff member had to be impressed with the showings of their future players.

First starting with McKinley, the Cincinnati pledge's effort was not never in question. He played a selfless brand of basketball with a high motor. He sprinted the floor, finished plays offensively, and was the king of making the key extra pass. He always has been known for his versatility but playing his motor will help him secure early minutes in the Big-12 during the fall of next year.

Four-star PF Tyler McKinley (Link Academy/MO) is a work horse. A guy who goes about his business and plays within himself. The Cincinnati commitment is a good rebounder and he runs the floor pulling gravity in transition.
