DaVeon Thomas 2023 JUCO PG 6'1 commit

Thomas picked up an offer this morning from the staff. He’s from South Carolina and is currently playing at Kilgore CC in Texas. He was originally HS class of 2020 so he’s immediately available.

Watch DaVeon Thomas's videos and highlights on Hudl. More info: Kilgore College - Kilgore Mens Basketball / PG / Kilgore, TX

Listening to the basketball portion of last night's Bearcat Journal podcast and Chad Brendel noted that Wes Miller opened the live period by watching Thomas at a Juco showcase in Iowa. Referred to him as a combo guard.

Was at the game tonight, per Dan Hoard early in tonight’s broadcast

He seems to like jacking his 3's about 4 feet beyond the arc.

A perfect replacement. We have one of those now.

Right now we have one healthy serviceable PG and he's not a natural for the position. James is coming and we could use depth regardless of which one of them starts.

I'm not sure where his recruitment stands, but some stats:

                    31.6 mins/game through 13 games (13 starts)
                    20.5 points (45.6% FG, 42.1% 3PT, 90.1% FT), including two 30+ point efforts
                    6.2 rebounds
                    3.1 assists

Apparently he also has visited West Virginia (Chad B mentioned on BBP podcast last night)

I don't know where things stand with his recruitment, but I believe UC is still in on him.

JucoRecruiting.com has him ranked as the #4 prospect in junior college https://www.jucorecruiting.com/2023-juco-top-100

Chad Brendel believes Thomas is down to WV & UC. He expects a decision within the next two weeks. Thomas apparently has no other visits planned.

You can never have too much talent, especially this highly rated PG, but they need big men. Lahkin is a stud, but needs help and relief for fouls trouble. Ody seems to be much more of a small power forward than true 4, definitely not 5.
Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

                            Intimidate! Dominate! Celebrate!

Yeah, timing is everything... and with DerMarr leaving for WVU... Gotta bad feeling where Thomas will end up.
