Wes Miller is "expected in tomorrow" for Tyson, who apparently shined at a recent Adidas All-American camp, per Jake Weingarten

The Lakota West rising senior is a Top 75 recruit nationally and will likely be a top target for Calhoun and staff.

While HS recruiting is less significant now with the portal, will be nice to have some guys to keep an eye on -- especially locally -- after things were pretty quiet this past fall/winter/spring pre-coaching change.

i think you at least have to go after the local kids. I know some kids just want to go away to school, so you'd never get all of them, but hopefully you could get some to stay, and you have to at least try.

I believe that part of the growing up process is to get away from home when going to college. Yes, I would like to keep some of the "hometown hero's".

I used to closely follow HS recruiting, I don’t bother anymore.

It is interesting that tOSU recruiting webpage had a long article on Tyson today.

new update -- today on tOSU 247 it lists Tyson as the #1 priority. Looks like a fight --- better bring NIL as the weapon and lots of it. Ohio bragging rights and establishing the King of the state.

UC has not won many recruiting battles against OSU. Obviously Huggins brought in some big talent from the Cleveland area. When Thad Matta had things rolling at OSU, many of the key pieces of his teams were Ohio kids. Anthony Thompson, a 5 star senior from Lebanon, is headed to OSU (UC was not in the running but obviously things weren't in a good place with Wes/UC, though at the time of his commitment there were and probably still are question marks with Diebler).

All of which is to say, Calhoun made comments previously--maybe in his intro press conference--about being the best in the state. Hopefully his area ties help them become a force in Ohio, but certainly trying to lock down kids from Cincinnati/SW Ohio.

Hopefully Mahaffey being a local kid is a factor in recruitments like this.

"It was a smooth visit," Tyson told The Enquirer. "Coach (Jerrod) Calhoun seems like an experienced vet. He's a proven coach and a winner."
                      ...

"I think they're on the horizon of some great things," he said. "It's very evident with what he did at Utah State. He's a winner all around. I wouldn't be shocked if Cincinnati gets back to where they were in the early 2000s."

depends on the kid. not everyone wants to leave home, plenty can grow up just fine, while staying home, whether they're athletes or not.
