  • Jordi Rodriguez 2025 6'7 Spain F commit

Per @DiarideBadalona on Twitter/X, Spaniard Jordi Rodriguez is heading to UC. Per the translated post, a "substantial financial offer and a significant role are the main reasons."

The same post referred to him as a PG.

It looks like he averaged 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists per game for a Spanish club this past season before playing in a few games for Club Joventut Badalona where he averaged 2 ppg.

Appears he is 21 years old. There is possibly a Baba Miller connection as well.

71-173 (41%) from three at Burgas T. last year, 24-57 (42.1%) from 2. Though some of the highlights I found from farther in his past indicate he might have more of an ability to drive than that stat line indicates. He even brought the ball up the court now and then. But last year at Burgas T. (higher competition level) it appears he was primarily a spot up shooter.

Seems to be in the mold of Simas Lukosius: his best skill is spot up three point shooting, not sure how he'll do on defense, might be able to handle the ball in a pinch but not a guy you want dribbling through traffic and if he doesn't have a shot will move the ball quickly. If he can keep shooting close to that 41% mark, he'll likely push for minutes.

He looks a bit smaller than Lukosius, which may benefit him if he's going to play the 3 (which seems likely).

I cannot figure out how eligibility is calculated these days. The JUCO exception and allowing kids to enter college while still "college aged", even though they played professionally somewhere. It wouldn't surprise me to see a highly rated kid go from high school to the G-League, not make the NBA after 2-3 seasons, and turn to college in his 3rd or 4th year after high school, with 1-5 years of eligibility left.

Chad Brendel said that Rodriquez is a wing, not PG. He also said that this is not yet finalized. There are some details to work out. The staff have been recruiting Rodriguez since last summer, when Drew Adams was on staff. Adams has European connections.

CWM is on his way to Spain to watch the Spanish national B team play. It includes both Jordi Rodriguez and Baba Miller, who have known each other for years.

Rodriguez is 21 years old and likely to be classified as a sophomore.
