It seems odd that a guy who is an 88% free throw shooter would be a poor shooter.

Agreed, but we've seen it before. We've also seen good shooters who can't make a free throw.

Tejada was under 30% from three this year and 32% for his career. Only 48% from two for his career because he takes so many midrange shots. But he's a high usage guy so the hope is he can be more efficient if he's not creating his own contested shots all the time. His Twitter highlight reel is a bunch of step back threes. Calhoun seems like a coach who would cut those out and just leave open threes or rim looks. He's a decent passer for a wing. Takes care of the ball. Average rebounding numbers. A 4.3 BPM shows he has a positive impact. I mentioned a big dip against Big12 opponents, but his BPM was 6.3 in 5 top 100 games. He went off in the CAA tourney, scoring 94 points in 3 games (7 for 13 from deep, 23 for 24 at the line) with only 3 turnovers total. I'd like him to start at the 3.

Out of this group of big men, I like Dzellat. Haynes was hurt. I did get a chance to see him. McKinley is not a good defender. He hustles and plays hard, but he has yet to learn how to make it difficult for guys to score. On the other hand, McKinley will be only a sophomore next season. Is Mckinley worth taking a chance on?

Dzellat is a pretty good defender. I do not know if anybody else paid attention to Dzellat. He is a good defender and is aggressive on office. However, what I think does not count. It will be interesting to see what Calhoun thinks of Haynes, Rodriguez, McKinley, and Dzellat.

Twitter would have me believe it's Tyler Tejada. But Twitter has misled me before. Below is my previous assessment.

Tyler Tejada had a 4.3 BPM at Towson last year. I'm taking that. High usage wing with size at 6'8" who gets to the line and converts 88%. But my concern is that he's a poor shooter who shoots more from midrange than anywhere else on the floor. I've seen too much of that over the last 20 years. If Calhoun can get him to improve shot selection, he could be valuable. He was abysmal in 3 games against Big12 competition, shooting 15% from three and was unable to get to the line and posted a negative DBPM. So some upside but a few red flags.

We have a basketball program and coaches, but no players (except 2 from what I understand). We have been here before. It will be very interesting to see who Calhoun brings in. Hopefully, UC can sign them for at least two years if the eligibility is there. Player stability, in today's game, is probably the best way for UC to produce a perpetually winning team. It will be interesting to see who wants to be a Bearcat.

The staff took Brumbaugh to MRBL in Bellevue (high-end steakhouse overlooking the skyline along the river) last night. There were comments (probably speculative) that he'd make an announcement today. However, he's supposed to visit at least one other school this coming week (either Clemson or SC).
