I won’t be surprised if Wes Miller reaches the NCAA before CJC does. Wes has a much easier road now.

We’re told we have plenty of $$$ to compete, but our three most valuable players from last year are in the portal. I hate the way the game is now.

Yeah, plus it seemed clear that CJC really wanted Tillery to stick around. Maybe he's just shopping a bit, but if he's gone, I'll be bummed. That young man is going to be a special player, at Cincinnati or somewhere else.

            - Tucker Anderson, senior (3.4 ppg) -- transferring back to Central Arkansas where he started his career
            - Luke Kearney, senior (1.7 ppg) -- ???
            - Jordy Barnes, junior (0.9 ppg) -- hit the portal yesterday
            - Kingston Tosi, freshman -- 6'8 redshirt this year is staying with USU
            - Brayden Boe, freshman -- 6'4 redshirt ???
            - David Iweze, freshman -- 6'10 redshirt was previously announced as intending to hit the portal

Not a lot of talent that could still come from Utah State, unfortunately.

How many years did it take Mick Cronin at UC? It’s much harder now, and it looks like we will have zero returning players.

IU football and Michigan basketball just won national titles with second-year coaches. And there were plenty of first year coaches who found success this season -- it should not take five years to make the tourney like Mick did (and it is why patience wore out with Wes) but without many returning minutes potentially, absolutely, it could be a challenging 2026-27 for Calhoun. But if he's genuinely a good coach, then it should be a non-issue.

A look at the rest of the Big 12 as the portal opens. Not entirely accurate, they still show Kayden Allen as a UC recruit.
The Big 12 Conference is about to see some wild roster turnover when it comes the transfer portal. 16 men’s basketball teams will be looking for new talent for the 2026-27 season as they not only lose players without any remaining eligibility but prepare to lose players to the transfer portal. I'd put my money on CJC all day. I had 5 years of Miller and I know what that is. No thanks.
