They lost several games with late second half leads. That’s a coaching issue. Last year’s team fell apart during crunch time. So, I’m definitely excited about the coaching change. The key is he’s bringing in his kind of players, that hopefully will play as a team which is more important than a random 5 star player or McDonald’s all American, who can’t play team ball. So if the mid major coach can get them to the tournament in year one or two, I’ll take it. He took Utah St to back to back NCAA tournament appearances. They also won first round and were competitive against Arizona, with a lot less talent compared to our team, who got blown out by that same Arizona team. I like the direction this offseason is going but everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just love how negative some are knowing they haven’t played a game yet. I guess time will tell, but I’ll fully support Calhoun and the Cats until there is a reason not to.
    I agree 100%.

    • There will be doomers and gloomers until proven wrong and then they will still be doomers. I am optimistic that this coach can bring a team together and play as a team for the team.

      • I believe in Calhoun to recruit his players, but rumors of $10 million roster budget when he started have me scratching my head. We have swung big a few times and missed.
Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

        Intimidate! Dominate! Celebrate!

sadly this is the norm and no longer a big swing. The word is since Texas tech (how they must hate us) was bidding for hastings it was upwards of 2.5 and possibly 3. The word was 2 for Riley so that is 5. Close to 10 but I believe a bit higher. Next year look out as when CJC wins, some top dollar agents will be calling.

$10 million now seems to be the minimum expenditure necessary for a major conference program to put together a roster that will compete for a NCAA tournament berth. Regardless of what our budget ends up being, I'm sure Corey Evans and staff will maximize it to the best degree.

Considering we're still in the running for a top 50 high school recruit, Quincy Wadley, I'd imagine that we still have some money to spend on guys who can be instant contributors. Trust CJC.

It's been said on this platform before, but the definition of crazy to is doing the same thing and expecting different results. That epitomizes WM's teams. For five years! How many times did we read posted on here that getting this coaching staff to make in game adjustments was like pushing a boulder up hill. In just the two games I watched Utah State play prior to CJC getting hired I seen several adjustments employed to battle what the opposition ( Arizona ) was doing. If the new regime is legitimately trying to win every game as opposed to not losing every game at least it would be worth watching. I'd rather watch players who are trying to prove that they belong in a power 4 conference and lose rather than entitled five star blue chippers who are only trying to make bank and padding their personal stats.

              • Why Tyler Betsy transferred to BYU:
"Betsey's decision was also influenced by the chance to reunite with Robert Wright III, who decided to stay at BYU for his junior season. Wright, who began his college journey at Baylor, has a history with Betsey from their high school days. The two played together at the top-100 camp and even joked about attending college together."

Quincy Wadley will be on campus this coming Monday for an official visit. He already took an OV to Cal last fall, as well as an unofficial visit to BYU.

                      • here is some good news concerning $$$$. Huggs and several players were raising $$$. Besides the usuals (Cory, Terry, Keith G) Nicky V and Melvin L. showed up and praised the new coach. Nicky says he gets the UC tradition especially about X and that CJC can coach. It tells me they might be raising a little more for perhaps this year and it sets the foundation for generous giving in the future.

PS Nick shared his disappointment with the last 2 coaches. he made a comment how the X game while just one game, wasn't just a game. That was a direct hit on WM and his bunch. I also think that it was great that Huggs allowed his documentary to be a plat6form for $$$ raising. He is allowed to have his heart back in the program.

Wear your Cat Paw clothes with Bearcat pride my friends.

Thanks for this info Leo. Good to know that former players are rallying around the program.

As to wearing C-Paw clothing, I do that. But I am surprised by the reaction I sometimes get when I hail another person toting the C-Paw with a “Go Bearcats” shoutout. Some look at me as if I have three heads. I just smile and point to my logo. But the good thing is that I’m seeing the C-Paw on more and more people around here (southern suburbs of Dayton).

Whether it's money for top 50 high schoolers or transferees, it's good to see Huggs pulling hard for Calhoun.
