Seth Trimble is taking advantage of a recent court ruling that grants him eligibility for a fifth season and is transferring to Louisville, he told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
The former North Carolina standout is committing to Louisville after a Colorado district court ruling gave the high school class of 2022 a fifth year of eligibility for the 2026-27 season.
If the ruling holds up against an NCAA appeal, Trimble can return to college after he played five Las Vegas Summer League games for the Washington Wizards. He remains eligible to play in college since he didn't sign an NBA contract.
Trimble averaged 14 points per game last season with the Tar Heels and is the latest addition in an impressive portal haul for the Cardinals this offseason. Louisville has already added former Kansas standout Flory Bidunga, Oregon's Jackson Shelstad, NCAA Tournament standout Alvaro Folgueiras from Iowa, and ex-Arkansas guard Karter Knox.
The Cardinals know firsthand what Trimble can do after he torched them for a career-high 30 points last season.
