  • The Time Limit Issue

We all know that the NCAA has basically gone to 5 seasons in 5 years no matter what. While that is being challenged by the current crop of athletes there's a bigger issue that just cropped up.

In an effort to stop international students from overstaying their student visas, the current administration is seeking to limit the stay of student visa holders to 4 years. Regardless of your political leaning, this affects international basketball players on both the Men's and Women's side of basketball as well as Track and Field and Women's Golf.

    Something to watch.

I'm posting this from a college sports perspective. Please refrain from airing your political grievances.

My dad said something to me almost 55 years ago about foreign student-athletes. He said that he did not believe they should be given scholarships because it takes away from American scholarships. With today's NIL and the need to win, I do not agree with that sentiment. However, I still believe that the student athlete should have 5 years to compete in 4. I am tired of 28-year-olds playing in college sports. Heck IU's national championship team average age of the players was nearly 26 years. It used to be that the only way that you could play after 23 was if you served in the military first.
