Final "way too early" rankings from ESPN's Jeff Borzello:
- Houston #3 (January 8 at home, January 28 at Houston)
- Arizona #17 (first round opponent in Maui Invitational on November 21)
- Xavier one of five schools listed as "next in line" (December 10 at home)
ALSO:
- #21 San Diego State - would face UC on day 2 of Maui if either both win their openers or both lose
- #7 Creighton, #9 Arkansas and #25 Texas Tech are also on the other side of the Maui bracket and one of these teams or unranked Louisville will be UC's day 3 opponent in Maui
For anyone itching for basketball content, as I always am, I recommend Wednesday night's BCJ podcast. I listened to the podcast this morning and it's probably on YouTube as well.
Chad (and Dave) from BCJ had associate head coach Chad Dollar on for about 45 minutes. And the highlight was him going through, one-by-one, talking about each of the players on the roster. Obviously there is a lot of optimism and no coach is going to throw his guys under the bus, but nice to hear the positive discussion about each (and it is an exercise that head coaches usually shy away from -- talking about a bunch of individuals).
Can't wait for the Big 12. Even the A-10 had in-person media day in New York yesterday. The AAC still doing virtual interviews with a C-list ESPN team hosting the in-studio portion on ESPN+ .
