Here are the current kenpom.com rankings for the eleven AAC teams. What these numbers show is the shallow depth of quality in this conference this season. For comparison purposes, there are 363 D1 teams this season.
                    • Houston: #2 overall; #22 offensive efficiency; #2 defensive efficiency
                    • Memphis: #26 overall; #43 offensive efficiency; #26 defensive efficiency
                    • UCF: #58 overall; #116 offensive efficiency; #31 defensive efficiency
                    • UC: #73 overall; #50 offensive efficiency; #92 defensive efficiency
                    • Wichita State: #89 overall; #191 offensive efficiency; #39 defensive efficiency
                    • Tulane: #94 overall; #88 offensive efficiency; #110 defensive efficiency
                    • Temple: #113 overall; #110 offensive efficiency; #127 defensive efficiency
                    • SMU: #182 overall; #236 offensive efficiency; #130 defensive efficiency
                    • USF: #188 overall; #258 offensive efficiency; #124 defensive efficiency
                    • Tulsa: #198 overall; #224 offensive efficiency; #170 defensive efficiency
                    • ECU: #200 overall; #169 offensive efficiency; #242 defensive efficiency
UC, WSU and Tulane are the only AAC squads with better offensive than defensive efficiency.

By contrast, B12 schools are clustered at or near the top: KS #4, TX #5, BU #15, WV #17, OK St #34, TTU, #37, OK #38, TCU #43, IA St #46, KS St #52.

As a side note, except for that flushable performance at NKU, the Cats’ three other losses came to powerful teams in terms of offensive efficiency: AZ #1, tO$U #4, XU #9. Even in the second scrimmage, against Purdue, UC faced the #5 offensive team.

Something that I don't see mentioned here is that Larry Brown left the Memphis staff for health reasons last week.

                              Intrestesting results last night.

Houston had trouble at home with USF. They were playing without Jarrace Walker however.

UCF looks like a borderline tournament team this year. They took down Memphis in double OT last night.

Tulane cameback to beat SMU in Dallas last night.

USF finally broke into the AAC win column, pulling away from a depleted ECU in Greenville, 81-70. The Pirates were without the services of Javon Small, who lit up UC for 23 Wednesday night, but tweaked his knee.

In the second game of the day, both visiting Memphis and Temple launched brick after brick. At one point in the second half, the two teams had combined for 7/49 shooting from beyond the arc. Midway through the second half, the Owls pulled up by nine, only to see Kendric Davis come alive, sparking a comeback for a 59-56 Memphis lead.. Eventually, Damian Dunn hit a trey that tied the game at 59 with just a few seconds remaining. After Penny called TO at 02.1, the Tigers inbounded under their basket to Davis, who hit a running jumper at the horn. Final: Memphis, 61-59. The Tigers were missing three players because of injury, although DeAndre Williams and Davis played.
