  • Temple 2/22 7:00 ESPN2

Back on a bigger channel this week. That and the 7:00 window should keep us from getting punted to ESPN the Ocho this time around.

Temple has been a thorn in our side for quite a few years and outside of a potential meeting in this year's conference tournament, this will be the last time we play them in conference game. We tend to have better luck against them at home. They are playing much better in Aaron McKie's second season. That said, they've gone off the rails recently and lost 4 of their last 5. The lone win was Tulsa in Philly.

UC has to contain Battle and Dunn. You can probably let one of them get going if you blanket the other one . If they both get hot, we're probably in trouble. Jahlil White has out injured recently. Battle did not play in the W against Tulsa this weekend and I'm not sure what the reasoning was there. He also played limited minutes and went 0-fer from the field against Wichita St previous to that.

I'm also not sure Viktor Lakhin will play. We may find out more about Lakhin on the Tuesday noon press conference. Apparently he was good to go for UCF but hadn't practiced in 2 weeks so We Miller held him out.

This game will probably decide which team gets the 4th seed in the conference tournament. The loser would be in 5th with 2 or 3 games to go for most schools and could conceviably be caught and wind up in 6th . That means you have to play on Thursday. The way the bracket is set up this year, the 4th and 5th seeds play each other on Friday after a first round bye.

In his postgame presser yesterday after Temple blew out Tulsa, Aaron McKie said that Khalif Battle has not practiced since the Owls' Thursday night loss to Wichita State ("personal reasons"). McKie was unsure if Battle would play here Wednesday night. He played against the Shockers, but failed to score. Who knows what's going on?

(McKie is in his fourth season at Temple.)

He's been there that long as HC? Man, my brain is wilting.

FWIW, UC is still in play for the 3 seed.

We need to win out and then have Memphis lose to Houston at home on Senior Day.

@Williams_Justin: Wes Miller said that Viktor Lakhin wanted to play at UCF after pregame warmups, but that he hadn't practiced yet, so the team kept him out. Miller is hopeful Lakhin can play Wednesday, but will have a better idea after practice today. #Bearcats
