Memphis and App State are #80 and #76 in the current NET rankings yet are still receiving votes in the AP Poll. That should tell you all you need to know about the legitimacy of those rankings.

As for UC, one thing working against our chances of a national ranking is the fact we have yet to win consecutive games since Big 12 play started.

It seems as if winning streaks (regardless of quality of opponent) are rewarded over one-off victories against ranked opponents by the AP Poll voters.
