Glad We're Out of the AAC

Here’s how much more fun the basketball season has been compared to life in the AAC, as spelled out in the current KenPom rankings for the flotsam and jetsam of that once-decent league:
    • FAU – 28
    • SMU – 43 [Paying for ACC recruiting might have helped; then again, they’re gone in July]
    • Memphis – 63 [Could’ve used Williams’ 20th year of eligibility]
    • UNT – 68
    • Charlotte – 105
    • Tulane – 116 [Still have Forbes & Cross, but stagnant]
    • USF – 128 [Banner year]
    • UAB – 137
    • WSU – 151 [Oh, for the halcyon days of Gregg Williams roughing up players and coaches]
    • Tulsa – 174 [Haith gone; no change]
    • ECU – 177 [Same ol’, same ol’]
    • Rice – 228
    • Temple – 245 [Slow, unathletic and unskilled; Chaney scowling in his coffin (more than usual)]
    • UTSA – 280

Yep, could end up a one bid league after Memphis lost 3 in a row. It's a fun league to watch as a casual fan now though. There have been some great games.

Ha! You probably meant Gregg Marshall. Gregory Williams was a UC president who had an unusual personal transition during his tenure here. He was also on the losing end (in name only, but he did sanction the go-ahead) of a free speech suit. UC tried in incorporate a "free speech zone:" to, of course, limit free speech. Oddly, he resigned the day before the final verdict from Federal court was handed down, described as "a permanent injunction against UC's unconstitutional system of speech restriction."

Oops! Although I'm 74, I don't think I'm addled, but this belies that assumption.

Average AAC NET at the end of 2023 was 126. Right now the league average is 138.

That's assuming all of this season's newcomers would still join the team if we were in the AAC.

Out of Aziz, Jamille, Simas, Day Day, CJ, Rayvon, and Jizzle I don't think we land 3 of those 7 if we're still in the AAC.
