We held Kansas to 0.73 points per possession. We dominated the defensive glass, as the Jayhawks rebounded less than 20% of their misses. They put up 25 midrange shots and only made 32% of them.

Offensively we were just ok, putting up 1.01 points per possession. We chucked up 26 midrange shots and only made 23% of them. That's horrible shot selection, especially given the circumstances. We should have been getting Jamille the ball in the post to start every possession. Kansas had no chance to guard him straight up with their personnel. But we made up for it by converting 35% from three and rebounding 35% of our misses while turning it over only 10 times.

Player of the game was Newman with 5.9 net points, posting a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Skillings was just behind with 5.4 net points, scoring 25 to go with 7 rebounds. Aziz was the best defensive player, posting a 9.4 defensive box plus minus while grabbing 37% of available defensive rebounds. Simas and Day Day, the heroes of Tuesday night, were the only players with negative net points. They went a combined 0 of 8 from midrange with 5 turnovers.

Quite a bizarre pair of games. We're still alive.
Nice synopsis Sedz. Our 2 heroes from yesterday went back to their normal shooting selves. The announcers got it right when they talked about Lukosius' feet never leaving the floor. He may be good at 3's and FTs, but he's not a dribble drive player nor a does he have good handles and his defense in suspect. Notice how he rarely accrues fouls (sign of someone not guarding too close. 33 fouls in 31 games). He does have good court vision as he always seems to garner some assists. At least Thomas drives, or attempts to drive the paint Kudos to whoever shut down Furphy!! Now for Baylor..............a whole different animal. Not to mention their first 2 round byes and the fact that our guys are probably gassed.

So Adams plays the 5 in this lineup, but he does not have the size, rim protection, or rebounding ability of a typical 5. Small ball centers can pose matchup problems, but since Adams doesn't step out to shoot the three, it won't be a liability for us to have one of our bigs out there on him. I'd be surprised if they went with this lineup most of the game. I have a feeling we'll see at least 20 minutes of 6'10" 5th year transfer Parker Braun, who is a decent rim protector and can finish around the basket. The problem for Kansas is that Braun and Adams are their only frontcourt players. They have no depth with Dickinson out unless they give the walk on some minutes.

We cannot turn the ball over in this game. It's imperative to get shots up on the rim and give Aziz/Jamille a chance to grab the rebound. They should have a huge advantage on the glass.

Maybe UC wins one or two more games with those two and would have had a first-round bye.
CJ has been a non factor all season. I am not discounting them. But, those Kansas players are tbe 2 leading scorers in the Big 12.

Q1 win, but we’ll probably not get credit for it, even though we played healthy Kansas close in their gym earlier in the season.

What a weird game. We had them so over matched physically. I'm glad we did finally put them away because it should have never been close.
