However, with their top player, Tucker DeVries, out for an extended time (and possibly for the season), the Mountaineers are short-handed. The B12 grind is likely to wear them down.
You are assuming that Tucker DeVries is WV's main weapon. He is WV's MAIN three-point shooter. DeVries makes about 3 threes /g. Sixty-four percent (64%) of his shots are 3-point shots. Overall, DeVries took only about 12.9 % of all the shots. WV has other weapons. Javon Smalls (6'3" point guard) hits for 19 points / g, Amani Hansberry (6'8" 240 forward) scores about 10 points a game, and WV also has a little-known 6'8" guard, Toby Okani, who may be (maybe) an NBA prospect.
In other words, what I am saying to you, I think WV can win without DeVries in the lineup. I believe that WV may be one of the sleeper teams in the BIG XII. I have seen them play. WV appears to have a REAL CHEMISTRY this year. I could be wrong, but of what I have seen of them they have some really good parts and pieces.
