  • OT: USF HC Amir Abdur-Rahim has passed

USF's coach died today. No details that I've seen so far. The season starts in 12 days. My heart goes out to his family and the USF folks.

Amir was the the brother of NBA player Shareef Abdur-Rahim who shared a roster with a few Bearcats over time.

What a shame. Only 43 years of age. Condolences and prayers out to his team, his family and friends, and to the university as it this close to the start of tha season.

Gifted young coach and by all accounts a great person -- very sad

Wow!! Man, this is a shocker. Coach Abdul-Rahim was able to turn the basketball culture at USF around in one season. Under Abdul Rahim, USF won its FIRST ever regular season AAC championship (in his first year) with a 25 - 8 record (most wins in program history). USF was also ranked in the top 25 for the first time in its basketball history. He had similar success at Kennesaw State.

My condolences. Rest in peace Coach Abdul-Rahim.

I spelled his name wrong. Ugh. Fixed. It's Abdur-Rahim

Chad Dollar posted on IG that they grew up together and worked together.
