    Basketball Coaching Carousel '25

Starting this one a bit early this year because...

Well, Let's start this as a Hot Seat List

Todd Golden at Florida just got hit with a Title IX complaint for harassment and stalking today.

There have at least 4 national articles on what is up with Villanova and they had freshman recruit come up as ineligible today. Kyle Neptune made the mistake of following a legend I think.

Update on Golden: This apparently involves multiple women and there's not just one accuser here.

Golden's contract was extended recently by the University possibly while the Title IX investigation was taking place.

Miami basketball coach Jim Larranaga to step down, two years after historic Final Four run

Less than two years after leading the University of Miami to its first Final Four in school history, coach Jim Larranaga is stepping down, multiple sources confirmed. An announcement is expected as early as this afternoon.

The Hurricanes dropped to 4-8 this season with an overtime loss to Mount St. Mary’s last week and have lost 18 of their past 22 games dating to last season. Miami ended the 2023 season with a 10-game losing skid and things were not getting much better with his overhauled 2024 roster, which included 10 new faces.

(If I recall correctly, he was a candidate for the UC job in 2006 after taking George Mason to the Final Four - I remember he seemed old then, and that was 19 seasons ago!)

I think Miami during that final 4 run, had the highest paid basketball team in the country. It just showed that anyone could buy a team.

Expect the Indiana job to come open -- unclear when but rumors in Indiana circles suggest things may be happening soon (whether that is a forced retirement at the end of the season or something different remains to be seen ... if these rumors are even legitimate, though hard to see a path forward for Mike Woodson at IU).

That did not take long ...

Pete Thamel: "Indiana and coach Mike Woodson are in discussions about the coach’s wishes to step away at end of 2024-25, sources tell me/ ⁦@jeffborzello⁩ . He’s expected coach the rest of the year, but is unlikely to return next year. The details of the exit are being discussed." https://x.com/PeteThamel/status/1887628992339190190

i don't have the stats on it, but I think that would be very interesting, on a lot of levels. again, no stats, but i'm sure that mick will find something else to complain about there, if he goes to IU

Blows 17 point lead. Blames players and fans. Not saying what we have here is good but don't miss the south pole elf.

After leading by 17 points at one point, UCLA falls apart in second half in an upset loss to Minnesota.

Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.
