Also much like throughout the Mick era, the elite offense is superior to the allegedly elite UC defense.

My first day in 6th grade basketball, the coach told me to never wait for the rebound to come to me, always go get it as hard as you can, every time. I wonder how many times guys at this level have been told that. We had TWO offensive rebounds, one was a team rebound, and Skillings had one in the last minute. That is playing soft. This team needs a warrior like Eric Hicks or Gary Clark, and I don’t see one.Fire Scott Satterfield

Nothing good about this. Texas Tech is a real run and gun team that plays at a pace that Cincinnati can't really play at. That is how they got all those second chance rebounds and tons of wide open (but admit....damn good deep shooters) threes. SL is too slow to play in this game. And it ought to be asked why it never dawned on them that he was being guarded by the smallest player on the floor most ot the night, and backing him in low might of made sense. And watching TT run their offense around Toppin getting the ball in the paint and then kicking it out and finding open threes...Cincinnati has nothing like that. No offensive identity and no go to player. We don't have a big man that can make plays out of the blocks. We have big guards at 3 and 4 anda 5 that can't pass out of the post.
You need to have some spot on the floor where you have an advantage and exploit that. We didn't seem to have any way of approaching that tonight.

Our offense was pretty good for a change. We went 16 for 20 at the rim. That's better than I could ask for in conference.14 assists to 8 turnovers, 14 of 19 at the line. All great. But man, we're a team that relies on offensive rebounding and we just didn't do that at all tonight. Still, we put up 1.07 points per possession, our best performance in conference. That's not enough against an elite offense though. We needed to run this team off the three point line and we didn't. We're not going to win many games if we give up 12 made threes.
Mitchell takes player of the game with 4.2 net points. 5 of 6 at the rim, 2 for 2 at the line, 2 assists, 3 blocks, 4 rebounds. He did a little of everything. Page was our best player in his time on the floor, posting an 18.4 BPM in 10 minutes of action in which he again showed flashes of post scoring ability. I think he needs to be getting closer to 20 minutes.
The stats back up what many of you noted - Skillings had the worst game with negative 6.6 net points. He didn't do much offensively, but defense was the big problem as he posted a negative 9.5 defensive BPM. Only Fredrick was worse.

What hurts about these losses is the increasing gap between our preseason expectations and the on-court results that demonstrate the harsh reality of how unremarkable this team actually is.
We were told how incredibly fortunate we were to hold onto Jizzle, Dan, Simas, and Aziz. The addition of Dillon Mitchell was supposed to help take this team to new heights.
Yet, we're over halfway through the season and have hardly sniffed a Q1 win.

Very poor defensive effort tonight. UC now is 2-5 in the conference. Time is running out. I would advise UC to make its move now before it's too late.Last edited by leeraymond; Today, 12:47 AM.
