The play was not UC basketball. Enough said as we saw U of Confusion basketball. Is Oscar watching this excrement? I am sure KMart is and I bet he is verbal. No excuse of being on the road in high altitude. The conditions are not responsible for total lack of team play, desire and direction. CWM can be "pissed" all he wants, but this loss is on him.

I fell sleep at 10-9 BYU. Apparently the wheels fell off based on the final score. Should I even bother watching the rest?

This season through 8 league games this team is 44/199 for 22% from behind the arc. Astonishingly, they are even worse in their 4 league home games this year shooting 16/83 for 19%. I'm not sure we've ever had a team shoot that poorly from three at home. I think our coaching staff needs to focus on helping this team
gain an offensive identity. Our offensive rebounding numbers, that are usually a staple of Bearcat basketball, is not where it should be given the number of missed shots we have each night. This is directly impacted by offensive scheme, positioning and effort. This team is very hard to watch.

Didn't watch this game, didn't record it. First time in years where I missed watching a game without a scheduling conflict. Just didn't care to stay up late to watch this team. Probably won't bother to watch the Utah game either.
Wes seems to rely on guys to coach themselves, but without Newman we don't have a leader to demand effort out of other players. Wes doesn't prioritize effort, Day Day plays harder than Jizzle, but who starts? Simas can't be bothered to box out or defend half the time, but still gets his minutes. Who knows what has happened with Skillings, maybe still lingering injury?
It's time to start and play the guys who give it their all. I'd rather lose with bad players who play hard than lose with good players who don't care. But the bigger issue is that it's time to start recruiting those guys and demanding that level of effort throughout the season. It's likely too late to save this season, but if Wes doesn't change things we aren't saving next season either (assuming he comes back).

UC lost the BYU game in the second half. BYU came out in the second half in a 2-3 zone. UC came out in the second half in that same ole tired ineffective man-to-man. BYU hit shot after shot (17-23). They shot for 73.9% in the second half. The last two losses for UC have been very disturbing. Over the last two games (TT and BYU), teams have shot 27-55 from three (49%). Where is the #@#% defense?
Many of you will say start a different lineup. However, the second half of the BYU game was not a lineup problem, it was a coaching adjustment problem. BYU made second half adjustments, UC did not.
Mid way through the second half after the score ballooned out of control, it was clear that UC players had given up. It stopped fighting on defense. Once a team stops fighting on defense, there is very little left. The team reminded me of those Brannen teams during the COVID era. Miller has some major problems here. His strategies are not working, and the players are showing cracks in their armor.
Let's be honest here. These losses are starting to affect the players. I saw it for the first time last night. In 4 of UC's last 6 losses, it was beaten by double digits. Three of those games were blowout losses (Baylor, KU, and BYU). This is a very bad sign for Miller's survival in his 4th year.
Whatever Miller has left in his bag of coaching tricks, he needs to start using them fast. This ship is taking on water. If Miller does not do something that works fast, this ship will probably go on to sink.
I hate to see what is now happening to UC basketball. It is really sad.Last edited by leeraymond; 01-26-2025, 11:16 AM.

I rock with Wes and the staff but I do miss watching original Bearcat basketball. Gritty, physical, pressing, and tough as nails. I do not see any tenacity or will from the coaches or players. Losing isnt the issue, it’s watching how we lose. No one cares about “analytics”!
“We didn’t shoot it well” does not mean that you cannot win games. I was apart of w team that barely scored 50 but won tough games. Players have to play with a chip on their shoulder and control what they can control. There’s no analytics that measures toughness.
FYU, I get mad watching Houston Cougars! They stole our identity. Watching them play Kansas reminded me of watching Bearcat basketball. They play w a lot grit and passion. They miss a lot of shots, but they out tough you for 2nd chances.
Sorry for the rant, but as a former player. You can take away the 3’s from BYU but it takes a lot of grit, will, and physicality to do so. If that was their strength then you align your match ups properly and you choke up in their space and force them to drive! Stunt on the drive

Wow! This has got to end. We have no offense, no defensive intensity & poor coaching. I believe the players like Miller because he let's them do what they want. 22% from 3 point land is unacceptable.Miller
has to do something to change this. But apparently he doesn't want to. If we keep getting beat like that the rest of the year, Miller has to go. I don't care how much money we have to pay him.
