Here is a comment/question for you. Huggins complained about the travel in the Big 12 and that was prior to the addition of another time zone. Cronin has been complaining about the travel in the B1G 10. How much of this huge turnaround with UC playing BYU in Utah and then BYU in Cincinnati has to do with the time change?

I thought when Reed first came in he stopped the easy basket by the roll from the pick & roll by BYU they were scoring at will. He stopped it and then played perimeter defense causing a shot clock violation. His offense clicked in. To me he was are all around best and I hope it continues.

Metrics support this too. Reed had the second best BPM behind Jizzle. It's hard to be higher than a guy who makes 6 of 8 threes. Since Jizzle's performance was mostly outside shooting, I think it's fair to say Reed was the best all around player.

The metrics support that. CJ had a top four offensive BPM last night, higher than every starter except Jizzle. You are both validating the metrics with your eyes!

Making shots, good defense (2nd half), BYU missing shots (2nd half) and Reed's awakening with offensive confidence had a lot to do with the victory.

I noticed far greater movement on offense. That led to more open looks and better shot selection. On defense, after scoring 42 points in the first half, BYU only score 24 in the second. That was a solid defensive effort as well. The team is playing better. Will it be able to sustain it for the rest of the season is the question.

They took good shots all night, none of that over penetrating and throwing up prayers. What a difference when we take higher percentage shots.

UC played a complete game tonight. UC shot 58.6% and hit 10 more shots than BYU. Also, UC dominated the boards (32-17). UC had 11 offensive rebounds. UC had 16 second chance points; BYU had 0 (zero) second chance points. Likewise, although UC and BYU were almost even with turnovers (UC-11 and BYU-12), UC scored 24 points off of turnovers and BYU scored just 12 points off of turnovers. UC kept BYU off of the free throw line. Normally BYU takes about 17 free throws a game. UC held them to 11.

Arguably, this was UC's best conference game of the season. There are 8 regular season games left to play. Guess what? All of the teams left on UC's schedule beat UC the last time that UC played them. That stretches back to last year. So, that makes the remaining games a revenge list.

Has inserting Thomas into the starting lineup helped this team? I do not know. However, the team has won 2 of 3 and has scored an average of 88.5 points its last two games. Hopefully, the light bulb has turned on with this team.

Who needs an offensive scheme when you can just have your normally poor shooting guards knock down a bunch of jumpshots? We scored 1.32 points per possession, easily our best performance of the season after adjusting for opponent strength. In addition to hot shooting, we dominated the boards, limiting BYU to just 3 offensive rebounds.

Jizzle was the best player with 5.9 net points while going 6 for 8 from deep. Skillings was second best with 3.2 net points thanks to 4 offensive rebounds (more than BYU's entire team) and 8 points at the rim. Good to see him finally have a good game doing what he does best. Reed was a close third with 3.0 net points. Mitchell and Day Day led in defensive BPM. Day Day couldn't miss from midrange, going 6 for 7. Fredrick and Page also had positive impacts.

Simas was our worst player with negative 6.2 net points. He only scored 5 points on 10 shots and had a negative defensive BPM. Betsey also had a poor game.

We did a great job on Demin - he needed 13 shots to score 11 points from the field. He also coughed it up a couple times and posted a game worst negative 4.8 defensive BPM.
