Payback time, Part 2. The Bearcats played about as poorly as they have all season in SLC two weeks ago. Since then, though, they've been terrific.

Right now, the game Tuesday night is a NET Q3 home game. The Utes are #79 (#86 KenPom), with the Q2 home cutoff at #75. The Cats are better than the Utes and need to put their feet on their throats early (figuratively, of course; Christian Laettner doesn't play here). Make Gabe's return visit a miserable experience.

Virtually every remaining game is a "must win" (except, perhaps, @ ISU & UH. Those are "play extremely well" games and hope for the best.

I hope Gabe is ok from all that to be honest. He was the first sign something was wrong with JB and we kinda blew it off a bit I think

So do I. My angle pertained to the damage he did to us In SLC.

I'm assuming the BYU game was a quad 1 win?

Probably not since it was a home game

BYU is #37 in the NET rankings, so it was a Q2 win. A Q1 home game involves an opponent in the Top 30.

The Utes are #79, making them a Q3 foe (Q2 cutoff for a home game is #75).

So it won’t help much if we win, but hurt like heck if we lose.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure where the lines of demarcation actually were.

                    Since they last faced:

UC home loss by 13 to West Virginia, 10 point road win at UCF, 18 point home versus BYU
Utah 9 point loss at Oklahoma State, 13 point win versus Colorado, 11 point loss at WVU

                    Ken Pom -- UC 53, Utah 85
                    NET -- UC 51, Utah 79

Utah is tied with TCU for 10th in the league at 5-7
UC is tied with UCF and Oklahoma State at 4-8 (three of UC's four wins are against 4-8 UCF, 3-9 ASU, 0-12 Colorado)

Here are the parameters for each of the 4 quads:
                      • Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75
                      • Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135
                      • Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240
                      • Quadrant 4: Home 161-364, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-364
Through 23 games, here is how the Bearcats have fared within each quad (which may fluctuate upon completion of more games, as former foes move up and down in the rankings):

                      Q1: 1-7
                      Q2: 6-2
                      Q3: 0-0
                      Q4: 7-0

So, no bad losses. They just haven't knocked off enough of the top teams.
