I’ve noticed a tendency/trend since the team lost to WV. Mitchell has taken a leadership role on the team. When he is in the game, the team plays much better. When he fouled out yesterday, the ‘Cats seemed disorganized on both sides of the ball allowing ISU to maintain the margin until the end. Any thoughts about this?

My initial reaction when I saw DS laughing after Mitchell fouled out was far from positive. I just went back and watched the replay and it appears Mitchell said something that caused DS and the student managers sitting behind them to laugh. Not acceptable, but I want to be fair to DS after my initial reaction.

Maybe it was F YOU or now you have to play. It would be interesting to know. Regardless laughing in a tight game on national tv is not good. DS did try to hide it with his towel. I know when I was losing nothing ever said could make me laugh especially if I was benched due to wretched playing. Maybe it was being homered or perhaps a reaction to the crowd chanting that Mitchell addressed. If you watched didn't they move Mitchell down a couple of seats after initially sitting down or was that a previous time. I would rather know why DS has quit on his team. CWM doesn't seem to know or how to correct it.

Like I said I didn't see the game so I won't comment on the laughter by DS. But taking the sample size of DS's performances after coming back from his injury to what we've seen prior and to last season is night a day. And it is mainly effort. It takes effort to beat your man and drive to the rim, it takes effort to follow your shot, it takes effort to rebound, ( you have to want to ) and it takes effort to stay on the man your assigned to. I watched the same type of effort from some 3rd and 4th graders in a game I watched last night instead the UC debacle. The only difference between the two efforts mentioned is, in the elementary school players they know not what to doas they're still learning the game. So why do we see a different player this year than from what we become accustomed to last year. Even if it was disorganized many times did he just forget how to drive to the rim, did he forget how to rebound ? Or is he afraid. Why is he content to just sling up threes every now again and not contribute in any other way. Does he already know he's not going to be here next year? Does he already have a destination locked in? Since he knows he's gone after this year ( if he is ?) is he satisfied to just get paid. Or is he getting paid by someone else to sabotage the season. I do know that Cincinnati fans can't be bamboozled. You just can't put five guys on the bball court and pass them off as Bball players and expect Cincinnati to buy it. The Royals owners found that out quick enough. I can only imagine what people who donate to Cincy reigns think of this but something is fishy in Denmark ( Clifton ). After 55 years of dedicated UC bball following I won't be watching this side show any longer.

I'm pretty sure Skillings was laughing at the students chanting "left! right!" with each step Mitchell took after he fouled out. That's a common thing and the players sometimes have a little fun with it. I wouldn't read much else into it.

Yesterday's loss to Iowa State officially indicates that Coach Miller now has double digit losses in every one of his seasons at UC. Cronin also had 4 straight seasons with double digit losses before he went 26-9 in his fifth year. On the flip side, Miller has had two consecutive 20-win seasons. It took Cronin five years to get his first 20-win season. Miller did it in his second year.

There are still 6 regular season games left to play. Let's see if Miller can get another 20-win season under his belt. Miller would have to win 5 of the 7 games remaining. I am not sure if that can happen with this team. Also, if UC can win 5 of their last 6 regular season games, that would make their conference record 10-10. Would that be enough to make the NCAA's?

We are getting a little ahead of ourselves a bit. Let's take one game at a time. Let's see if UC can win their next game on Wednesday against WV. Let's start there.

I know many players who wouldn't be laughing when your teammate fouls out and your team is getting beat especially after you stunk up the court. What do you read into DS trying to hide the laughing with a towel and then Mitchell getting up and moving away from sitting next to DS, There are things you don't do on a court. Could you imagine Huggs or Mick reaction to such laughing. There is much to laughing when your teammate fouls out. If this is so common when the crowd chants left right, why no laughter until yesterday. Just another I don't care moment. I would wonder what Hicks or Nelson or KMart would say to a teammate who laughed after they fouled out. I have seen locker room fights. I have seen them after a loss and after fouling out. JJ was mad as can be when he fouled. I am sure he got the song. Again, there are things you don't do when your teammate fouls out. Sadly, stats just declare part of your game and not your attitude and why you have quit on your team. We must get back to Bearcat Basketball and no quitting. If one quits, the team must address it as CWM isn't. Terry Nelson is addressing it on the radio and he is putting his job on the line by doing so. Of course, Terry is a Bearcat. I wish all the players were.

Thing is we don’t know. It’s up to CWM to deal with anything if necessary. Again, we can’t rip DS for that because we don’t know.

A couple of TV things. If someone can't watch the game because of other plans, have you ever tried to record it and watch it later without knowing anything about the results? I do this lots of times and to me it is about 99% as good as watching the game live. Also, re annoying overruns from the previous game, if your TV provider is showing the game you can see the game in its entirety for free by using the ESPN app.

I use my computer for overruns. I do record late games and watch in the morning. What I miss is the Bearcat community posting for live games. I really enjoy the bantering.

there's been several games where I turned the tv / was driving, and listened to the radio. nelson has been frustrated for a while, and it shows - he's been making comments for numerous games. i saw something yesterday that Aziz was getting on somebody, as to their defensive positioning. if, twenty games in, you don't where you're supposed to be, that's a problem.

i think cwm has lost control of this team, and it shows. he can be the coach, or he can try to be the best friend that every player has ever had. he can't be both.
