First game in the Crown Tourney in Vegas is here.

I have no idea what the lineup will look like because we have graduating seniors plus a few potential transfers outbound. As someone mentioned in transfer portal thread, there is an incentive for the seniors or transfers to stick around for this because this tourney pays out NIL money.

Yeah, you are right. With 5 of the 16 teams coming from one conference, two of the BIG XII teams were destined to play one in the earlier rounds. Hopefully, UC can get to the finals.

DePaul was no match for UC yesterday. UC hit 33 shots. On the season, UC normally hits about 27 shots. UC shot 57% in the second half and also went 7-12 from the three-point line (58%). UC also turned DePaul over 19 times and had 16 steals. However, UC committed 20 fouls, putting DePaul on the foul line for 21 free throws (too many).

Up next is UCF. UC has beaten UCF about 5 consecutive times (something like that). UCF is going to be a much tougher test. Also, this is a revenge game for UCF. It does not seem right to have teams from the same conference play each other before the semi-finals. The brackets should have been set up differently. Hopefully, UC can continue to play some decent defense and continue to hit some shots. It would be nice to see UC get to the finals, at least.

With five of the 16 teams coming from the B12, there was no way to avoid at least one second-round matchup (barring B12 teams losing their openers). It just happened that UC and UCF were the two B12 teams in the same quadrant and, not only that, but are the only remaining B12 teams in the CBC, after ASU, CO and UT each lost their opener.

It does appear that the CBC committee separated the top four NET teams, so that they couldn't meet until the semifinals. (Boise St #44, UC #50, Nova #55, NE #59). I don't see any other reasoning behind the first round pairings. They didn't do Georgetown (or their dozens of fans) any favors. Their game against Wazzu Monday night tipped off after 11:00 PM ET.

I flipped past the UCF OSU game a few times and it appeared to be a close game throughout. UC plays next on Thursday at 7 PM, I believe.

We forced 19 turnovers and went 18 for 25 at the rim. I'll take that.

Day Day had 11.3 net points, the best game of his career. 13 points from the field on only 8 shots with 5 assists, 5 rebounds, 7 steals, a game best 19 defensive BPM. Mitchell was second best with 6.6 net points, a solid performance on both sides of the ball. Simas and Skillings also had good games. Aziz and Jizzle were neutral.

Reed had the worst game with negative 4.6 net points. He went 1 for 6 from the field and committed 4 fouls in 22 minutes. Griffith and Dzellat combines for 31 minutes but each posted negative 3 net points. They went a combined 2 for 7 from the field with only 4 rebounds, no assists, and 4 fouls.

Well, DePaul was missing at least one starter. UCF is short their top (19 pts/game) player for the later game today and Oregon State is short three starters. Back to this game, the team played with energy, they cheered each other on, the played sloppy at time but it was good to get a win. There will be no asterisk behind this win for future references.

I'm a bit curious now what's up with Page, he seems to be engaged and cheering on teammates. I expected him to already be in the transfer portal after being benched for the conference tourney. Is there any possibility he's dealing with some minor lingering injury that they don't want him to make worse?

I still expect him to transfer, but it's seeming like less of a sure thing than it did a week or two ago.

He could be cheering them on to win the prize money for all to split.
