When he played Arkansas, their frosh guard destroyed him and it has taken this long to recover. CWM needs to keep working on him.Last edited by leo from jersey; 11-17-2025, 07:31 AM.

Stating the obvious. Why don't these guys know to do the basics. BaBa has played for years but 52 has played less than good old DS. Few talk about that as they excused DS ( a subject for later). Still 52 has played college ball. He said this " "During a timeout, Coach had to tell us we've got to box out and pursue it, so that's what we started doing when we got on the court," UC center Thiam said. "It works.". Yes it works, but few throw a body on others. I saw 52 & BaBa have position down low 2 on one and the Mountie boxed out and got the RB even though he was much shorter. This has been my complaint for years. Rebounding is a skill but it takes work. Once again I quote the great rebounder Charles Barkley "Any knucklehead can score, but it takes a basketball player to rebound". At least CWM told them do rebound and work, It did work. It won the game . CWM needs to keep on them. Position, position, position. Thinking, thinking, thinking weakside strong side thinking as the shot is in the air. Then use your body and stop trying to reach. Legs, legs, legs and not just arms. 52 & Baba obviously knew because they started doing it. The desire for stats and not the desire to win.Last edited by leo from jersey; 11-17-2025, 07:37 AM.

Rufus CWM said Said Miller, "We were losing the rebounding war for a big chunk of that game so it certainly was a big topic of conversation on the bench and in our huddles. Again, when we finally started playing Cincinnati basketball in the second half, the rebounding was a part (of it) and we had a good margin at the end of the game.". Well yeah CINCINNATI BASKETBALL -- Has any really watched the past teams? You may not drive the lane, all loose balls are ours and we earn getting the rebounds.Originally posted by Rufus View PostDidn't get to watch the game but it's been said ad nauseam on this forum about Miller and his big men. He covets them but don't use them like it used to be. They eventually end up on perimeter with the other four.

Outside of Day Day, our vaunted 3-point shooters are looking rather pathetic so far, as a team we are shooting 30% from three and that's mostly against cupcakes who are going to give up more open shots than quality teams. Hopefully they are learning shot selection and there's just a bad luck element. Kriisa and Abaev a combined 11/47 on the season.
Day Day: 61.3% on 11 for 18 shooting.
Tiller: 50%, 2/4.
Celestine: 33%, 4/12.
Kriisa: 25.9%, 7/27.
Jordi: 25%, 2/8.
Shon: 20%, 4/20.
Miller: 16.7%, 1/6.
Thiam: 14.3%, 1/7.

UC played some pretty good defense the second half of last night's game. I attempted to track the number of kills (3 consecutive defensive stops) that UC had last night. In the 1st half, UC had 1 kill and 1 double stop (two consecutive defensive stops). In the 2nd half, check this out, UC had 2 kills and 8 double stops. I do not know what was said to the team at half-time, but it worked. UC held MSM to 29% shooting the 2nd half and 37.5% for the game. What was more impressive is that MSM scored 36 points in the 1st half and scored only 19 points in the 2nd half.
Last night was the first time this season that UC played the passing lanes in the 2nd half. UC turned MSM over 19 times for the game. UC had 8 steals. The two bigs had 5 of the 8 steals. That was an impressive half of defensive basketball by UC last night.
If UC can bring that kind of defensive energy every game, it would not have to rely on trying to make so many threes to score. I hope that UC will be ready to play against Louisville. This will be UC's coming out party for the new season. Hopefully, UC can walk away with the win.

Lee at the end of the half CWM had a very sick disgusted look. I commented on that and if he would do something about the excrement on the court by the team. I think he did. I think he knows his job ison the line and there will be few cupcakes like the Mount was coming up. The tournament or bust with the money spent on this team.Originally posted by leeraymond372@gmail.com View PostUC played some pretty good defense the second half of last night's game. The offense put up less than a point per possession for the third straight game. That must change.
Day Day and Baba tied for best player, each recording 8.0 net points. Day Day was very efficient scoring with solid defense. Baba filled the stat sheet 13 points, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 3 steals. Tillery and Thiam also had great games, especially on the defensive end.
Harris posted a tolerable negative 2.5 BPM. Everyone else was bad, with a BPM of negative 5 or worse. Kriisa, Abaev, and Celestine were brought in as shooters. They went a combined 1 for 18 from three. Kriisa had 3 turnovers, giving him 11 over the last 3 games.

I thought Harris added a spark in the second half. I like his intangibles. The 3 point shooters are pretty wretched, but what do we have. Louisville will come in groves, so we need all the fresh players ready especially if Tyler can't go. I saw him get beat really bad last night and was yanked. The official word was that something wasn't right. We shall see as the team needs him. No word on Slimey yet.Originally posted by sedz View PostThe offense put up less than a point per possession for the third straight game. That must change.

I was working in the kitchen last night and "listening" to the TV in the next room. Was kind of glad I could only watch the end.Originally posted by Carthage World View PostFinished the game on a 30-7 run over the final 14:16.
Another top notch effort by Day Day. We looked completely out of sync on both ends of the court when he was out of the game.
That said, I feel like the team that finished the game could be competitive in the Bjg XII. And yes, difficult to imagine where this team would be without Day Day.

It feels like every Wes year. He gives lip service to the history of Cincinnati basketball but his teams bear no resemblence at all. No toughness. Lack of effort for stretches. Poor rebounding. I said after last season that I wasn't going to fall for it again and I'm not. They can prove things are different before I invest. I don't want to pay for ESPN anyway.Last edited by dmoney70; 11-18-2025, 06:52 PM.

yep. i hope that they can man up with / to UL, but, at this point, I kinda doubt it. I hate to say it, but I see another mediocre, middle of the pack year ahead of us.Originally posted by dmoney70 View PostIt feels like every Wes year.
