Prediction....pain. This could get real ugly real quick. The 'ville is up to 6th. It would not shock me to see a score in the 100's for the 'ville and 50's for the cats. Kelsey in 2nd year and Wes in his 4th. Definitely picked the wrong horse,

Miss the days where UC would play a team that, on paper, was clearly better than them and you felt confident that they'd have a real shot.

Louisville seems to be off to a great start, while UC's season to do date isn't too inspiring.

Big picture, this could be a helpful game regardless of how they fare, but just feeling not overly optimistic (and I tend to be a pretty glass half full sports fan).

UofL may win the game but they're not blowing the Bearcats out by 40+. KenPom has this as about a 6-point game. Seems reasonable. If the Cats play hard and well, I see no reason why they can't knock off the Cards.

I'm not as down on this staff as many are. This year's roster is far and away the best that they have assembled. The new GM, Corey Evans, is no slouch. The players they brought in are talented but need to gel.

I hope you are right but I'm not seeing it.

Some notable names on the Louisville roster:

-6'5 Mikel Brown Jr.... Top 10 freshman who scored 29 against Kentucky and has been averaging 19.3 ppg to lead the team. Also a big time distributor who averages 6.8 apg as well.

-6'4 Ryan Conwell... 4th-year guard who is on his 4th team and has faced UC at every stop along the way so far (USF, Indiana St, Xavier, UL). Also averages 19.3 ppg and shoots 43.8% from 3 on 8 attempts/game.

-6'3 Kobe Rogers... St. Xavier High School grad who played two years at D2 Nova Southeastern (and won a national title) before transferring to College of Charleston last season. Averages 6, 4, and 3 off the bench.

-6'10 Aly Khalifa... Faced UC two seasons ago with BYU before transferring to UL and missing the entirety of last season with a knee injury. Averages 2, 3, and 3 off the bench.

This is the first of the tournament bid resume builder games for this year. I believe the roster has been upgraded and with good coaching could win this game or at least make it a contest. Unfortunately we've seen Miller and his staff fall short on these occassions in his tenure here. I am expecting we will hear after the game that they are working to get these guys to gel together even though they have been practicing for months. I wish I could be more optimistic but Miller consistently gets outcoached.

I agree that this year's talent exceeds that of CWM 's previous teams but I just can't feel good about all the three point shot attempts taken versus those that they actually make, and the turnovers. I would feel a whole lot better if these things would have been cleaned up before this game.

UC says this will be ESPN2, not ESPNU (I'm pretty sure it did say ESPNU the other day)

UC may be overmatched in the Louisville game. Not sure if UC's guards can deal with Louisville's guards. Louisville scores a lot (103 / g), but it gives up a lot (71 / g). UL wants to really run. UC cannot run with UL. On paper, this game does not look good for UC. However, I believe that all games must be played out on the floor or the field. Just because a team has better stats, it does not mean that it is going to win the game.

Basketball is about the match-ups. I hope that Miller plays the match-ups.

Is it time to move Harris into the starting lineup? Kriisa has horrible shooting numbers (.267 and .259 from three). He takes about 7 threes a game and hits about 1.7 of them. In fact, Kriisa has taken more threes than anybody on the team. Also, he has zero steals and zero blocks. He has only taken 4 free throws on the season because he does not attack the rim. On the other side, he averages about 5 assists per game, but turns the ball over about 3 times a game. To be honest, Kriisa does not give the team much on defense or offense.

Harris has better scoring numbers (in points and overall shooting percentage), he is 15-21 from the free throw line, second on the team in steals, and plays attack basketball on both sides of the ball. However, Harris at times gets into foul trouble. On the season, he averages about 2.75 fouls a game. That ain't that bad overall. Harris is about an inch taller than Kriisa and is a better rebounder.

Now is the time to make adjustments to the starting lineup to give the new lineup time to gel. Mick Cronin at UCLA has already changed his starting lineup. It does not take forever to see what is working and what is not working.

As it now stands, Kriisa plays about 13 minutes more a game than Harris. Harris has better numbers playing 13 less minutes. If you were UC's coach, what would you do? To me, the choice is obvious. Then again, I am not the coach.

I would love to see Harris enter the starting lineup in some way, shape, or form. So far this young season, he has been my favorite player on the squad, largely because he seems to embody what I consider the core values of the Bearcat Basketball brand. Young man is a nasty defender with high energy, and I just LOVE that!

Maybe the coach thinks he serves the team better as a "spark" off the bench, but at this point I don't trust Miller's instincts much.

I am torn. I think Buck is the better player. There are two reasons why perhaps CWM isn't doing it. Harris commits too many fouls and so he has to be saved for specific times. 2. He is a major spark off the bench when the team has needed a spark. Perhaps there is a third. CWM is slow to change.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking about the fouls myself. But agree wholeheartedly with "CWM is slow to change".

Reading all of the above, agree Harris commits too many fouls. He's UC most aggressive defender, so it kinda goes hand in hand. I personally would rather see Harris starting over Kriisa. So far Kriisa has shown me zero when it comes to being a 3pt specialist, especially against lesser teams.

I think it's a moot point, by January I believe Tillery will start taking over Kriisa's minutes if he keeps progressing.

Will find out a lot about the Cats tonight! I think it will be much closer game than some think.
