  • Tarleton State 12/1 7:00 ESPN+

For those wondering, Tarleton St is in Stephenville,Texas which Southwest-ish of Ft. Worth. We have never played them before in fact they’ve set foot in Ohio only once before to play Findlay

TSU is coached by Billy Gillespie who you might recognize.

Do not foul Freddy Hicks. He’s in second place nationally in made FTs for his career.

Yes Billy was dismissed at UK. He was a good coach at lesser programs, but UK is the big time. Stephenville calls it self the Cowboy and now alien capitol of the world. In my year years I lived in that part of Texas. My hope is that the Cats don't embarrass themselves and win convincingly as they should. Any news on the injured?

Some notable results for the Texans (KenPom #194) so far:

      96-76 loss @ SMU (KenPom #41)
      96-60 loss @ LSU (KenPom #23)
      94-81 loss @ Baylor (KenPom #24)
      90-74 win @ Rice (KenPom #214)

      They hardly shoot 3-pointers (14/game - while we shoot 28/game) and are a good FT-shooting team (79.7% on 26.5 attempts/game).

Based on the season stats, Tarleton State is a better scoring team than UC. It also is worse defensively. Good thing for UC that TSU only makes about 4.4 three-pointers a game. UC has to be very careful not to let Dior Johnson (G 6'3") go crazy. He hits for about 24 points a game and shoots about 65% from three. TSU's four leading scorers are all guards and wings. That is bad news for UC because UC's guards have issues guarding without fouling.

In UC's two losses, it basically lost both games because Louisville and Eastern Michigan shot and made many more free-throws than UC. For instance, EMU went 19-22 and UC went 11-14 from the foul line. UL went 24-28 and UC went 10-16 from the foul line. In the case of EMU, it made 8 more free-throws than UC. Eight (8) points was the difference in the game as EMU won 64-56.

UC should win this one. It is not likely that it would get upset in back-to-back games on its home floor. However, with Coach Miller, losing to another lesser team is something that should be considered.

We all know what Coach Miller is about. This is a game that he can indeed lose. A UC loss is not likely here, but with Coach Miller we can never be too sure of a win until it happens.

Because we love the Cats and CWM loves his egotistical job. Sadly, his performance in that job is not much to brag on.
