Baba Miller’s Career-High Night Powers Bearcats Past Alabama State The Cincinnati men’s basketball team delivered its most lopsided victory of the 2025–26 season Wednesday night, rolling past Alabama State 88-51 inside Fifth Third Arena.
The 37-point margin marked the Bearcats’ largest win of the campaign, fueled by a dominant showing from senior forward Baba Miller. Miller poured in a career-high 26 points on an ultra-efficient 11-of-12 shooting performance, while pulling down 14 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. He became just the second player in college basketball this year to record at least 25 points and 14 rebounds while shooting better than 90 percent from the field — and the first Bearcat to accomplish the feat since the 1996–97 season.

Harris tweaked his back in the Georgia game. He's been nursing it since, warmed up, and thought he could make a go of it. He couldn't and let the staff know.Originally posted by leo from jersey View Post
Terry alluded to Harris and his limited PT. It may have had something to do with practice. Nothing more was said. Again, I am glad Tillery ran the point. Was he Jason Kidd? No, But he needs the development before he transfers.

From what I saw of the game, it was not so much UC's defense as it was ASU's offense. ASU missed 71% of all the shots that it took last night. From what I saw, ASU had many open shots. ASU just did not convert those shots.Originally posted by swilsonsp4 View Post
Defense was not an issue last night. The Hornets rarely got a good look and took to playing one-on-one, often just jacking up an off-balance prayer. UC, which have been elite at forcing low shooting percentages all season (#12 nationally, per barttorvik.com), were just as effective against ASU. The 51 points that ASU scored were their fewest, by a large margin, thus far in the season. For example: @ FSU 64, @ UAB 74, @ CO 66, @ NM 87, @ Mizzou 77.
Yes, the defensive rebounding was an issue, but the Hornets shot 29% from the floor, largely because they weren't open. They crashed hard, which often led to fast breaks. Despite the Bearcats yielding 17 offensive boards, ASU managed only five second-chance points.
Good defense, bad offense. Two sides of the same coin.

when a good team eats uc's lunch on their offensive boards, the cats will get killed - what are the mumbo jumbo stats on offensive rebounds given up by uc, and points in the paint allowed by uc?
stats are great, but a lot of the time, they just confirm what you can see by using your eyes

I was at the game, sitting close to the action, as I always am. The Bearcats asphyxiated that team. (No, the Hornets aren't good.) They couldn't pass, because no one was open. When they drove, they ate the ball. ASU stopped running any offense at all, out of frustration. They spent the rest of the game playing chuck and crash, because that's all they had. UC scored more off of ASU's missed bad shots than ASU did off their offensive rebounds.Originally posted by D.A.H. Certainly, the Clemson game will be a different affair. Brad Brownell runs a very structured offense, and the Tigers play at one of the slowest paces in the country. Yes, their players are a lot better than those of ASU. It will be a difficult game. The Bearcats must play very well for the entire forty minutes. Clemson are not going to grab 17 offensive rebounds, largely because they don't take that many shots.
The Cats, who have missed a boatload of quality open looks, must hit a decent percentage (35%+) from outside. Clemson isn't Iowa State or Arizona. They can be beaten, if the Bearcats play well.

Yeah, I am with you. You know what? I feel a lot better about UC's chances after watching James' performance on Wednesday. James gives UC another badly needed scorer. If James can continue to score with high efficiency, that will give UC a big boost.Originally posted by swilsonsp4 View Post

James may be the missing piece that turns the season around.

The key to his success will be if he limits his long 2-point pull-ups. He appeared to have a rapport with Baba. If that continues, the Cats will have another scorer to complement Miller. They need one.Originally posted by leeraymond372@gmail.com View Post

Fractured patella. The recovery time, if non-displaced, could be as early as three months (up to six months or so). If displaced, he's out for the season. No one at UC is commenting on a timeframe, as there is such a wide variance, largely dependent upon the injured individual's ability to respond. They're apparently hopeful that he can return this season. He has been shooting and working on conditioning.Originally posted by leo from jersey View Post
Big Slime Jalen Haines -- no word on the injury and no time table. He does sit on the bench.Last edited by swilsonsp4; Yesterday, 04:06 PM.
