    The Dan Skillings Game

Baylor was 7th out of 16 in the Big 12 in the preseason coaches poll; UC was 8th. Baylor is 1-6, while UC is 2-5.

Old friend Skillings is coming in with a respectable 10.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game but notably just 6.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 22.5 minutes per game in conference play. Also of note, he shot 44% from the floor last year, including 29.9% from three; his corresponding numbers this year are 44.4% and 29.6%, respectively.

Win or lose, the highlight of the game may be the halftime performance by the Firecrackers jump rope group.

Brandin Gaudin and Dickey Simpkins on the TV call.

For anyone attending the game, it's intended to be a "stripe out" in the stands. UC didn't broadcast this much at all. It's in the schedule at gobearcats.com, but not the by-section color scheme. Most sections are to be red, with these exceptions (black): 103, 105, 115, 117, 203, 205, 215, 217; all sections above the student sections (208-212, 220-224), all suites, except directly at midcourt).

Didn't Vegas predict a win at Arizona State?

The guard matchups do not favor UC. Baylor's starting guards are all 6'3" and taller. Also, Baylor's starting guards account for 42.6 points a game in conference play. UC's starting guards account for only 23.1 points a game in conference play. Baylor also has an advantage at getting to the foul line. It has made as many foul shots as UC has taken. For instance, UC has taken in total 109 foul shots in conference play. Baylor has made 103 foul shots in conference play. UC's bigs are going to have to protect the rim tonight.

However, Baylor is 0-4 on the road in conference play and is a bad defensive team. ASU was also a bad defensive team and still held UC under 70 points.

Despite all of the %$#@ losses, UC has only lost 2 games at home this year (it feels like its more) and are 2-1 in the conference at home. Only Houston has won so far at 5th/3rd in the conference.

Hopefully, that 5th/3rd magic will be with Cincy tonight. Maybe UC can get its first national TV win of the season tonight.

No guard matchup will favor the Cats unless they start to play and not clock it in as Terry Nelson said. No stat will change that.

First timeout, still missing low percentage shots.
