54 points in 59 possessions today. We outrebounded Houston, grabbing 40% of our misses. And we made 43% from deep. But we turned it over 19 times and only got the rim 3 times. We scored 2 points at the rim in a 40 minute game. Absolutely terrible.

Celestine was out best player scoring 13 from the field on only 7 shots plus 2 for 2 at the line and zero turnovers. Tillery was second best, scoring 11 from the field on 7 shots plus 3 for 3 at the line, but he turned it over 4 times. Kriisa was third best, making a three with 2 assists and zero tunrovers. Dzellat and Rodriguez also had positive BPM.

Day Day was our worst player. 6 points on 8 shots with no free throws and 6 turnovers. Baba was second worst, scoring just 2 points on 8 shots with no free throws and 2 turnovers. Jizzle was third worst, scoring 5 points on 6 shots with no free throws and 3 turnovers. That's a lot of turnovers with zero free throw attempts and no points at the rim from that group. Thiam and McKinley also had negative BPM.

Houston plays really good defense. But, UC has no clue how to play offense. They don’t even try to get to the rim and jack up 3s that have little chance of going in. And the mid-range jump shots are infuriating. Either the players can’t beat the defenders off the dribble or the offense is designed around mid range shots. Both are bad news for UC. I have to believe Cunningham has seen enough of CWM and is preparing to replace him when the season ends.

Cincinnati now lost 3 of its last 4 all by an average of 20 points. All were road games. What is it with UC being on the road? Houston manhandled UC today.

Also, imagine Baba Miller with a nice jump shot. I do not get it. Miller shoots his jump shots with nice form and range. Why does he not shoot jump shots? Why haven't any coaches helped to develop that part of his game?

Baba Miller is 3 for 33 from the three-point line. That is 0.091 shooting rate. During the game, TNel said during the game that whenever Miller shoots a three, it is an equivalent to a turnover.

a new coach who knows that players need to move with a purpose without the ball and a floor leader that can see the other 4's movement and orchestrate the completion for a score. A conductor. The coach must recruit the floor leader and teach the other four after he has recruited those with a willingness to follow while seemingly doing their own thing. They are not as they must play as a team to win most games. Talent doesn't always win at least individual talent. Did CWM actually play and lead under Roy Williams?

No. Wes Miller was a bench player. He played a little.

Yeah. That is why good players practice those things that need improvement. Imagine what Baba Miller's jump shot would be like now if he practiced shooting it 3 or 4 years ago after he got to the U.S.

still he should have learned at the practices. Roy recommended him and goes to at least one game a year. High praise. Roy understood the game.

Houston basically took Baba Miller, Thomas, and James out of the game. Houston took away Miller's driving lanes, doubled team him, and severely pressured Thomas and James when they had the ball. The plan, apparently, was to suffocate UC's main ball-handlers. Thomas had 6 (six) turnovers yesterday. Think about that for a second. Had Thomas played the entire 40 minutes with that rate of turnovers, he would have ended the game with 10.8 turnovers. I like to think that Thomas is better than that in big games. However, if we look at Thomas' performance over the last 4 games (where UC lost 3), he has averaged 4 points, 3.75 assists, and 2.27 turnovers. Where is scoring prowess with Thomas? Where is the will to win? Likewise, James had three turnovers, Tillery (who played a good game) had 4, and Miller had 2. It is hard to win like that.

Another comment about Thomas. I really expected that Thomas would have an all-conference type of season this year. Maybe those expectations were too high. Hey, do not get me wrong. I am not blaming Thomas for what is wrong with this team. I just thought that he would be one of the bright lights.

At any rate, there are only 9 regular season games left to play. In Miller's previous 4 seasons, he has lost at least 3 consecutive games to end the regular season in 2 of the last 4 seasons. It will be interesting to see how this season will end.

No matter how you look at it or spin it, it does not look good for Coach Miller. Not all of what is wrong is Coach Miller's fault. On the other hand, with the proper practice and training, a team will give what you demand from them. You can tell that Miller does not pay close attention to some of the details and finer points of playing basketball. Maybe that is why he routinely has 13 and 14 losses a season. Playing winning basketball requires that a coach teaches the details and the small things that make a difference. You can clearly see that K. Sampson teaches the details and the finer points of basketball. His teams show it.

If you demand little from a team, that is what you get.

Yeah, you are right. I got some bad information without checking it myself. His junior year he played about 23 minutes a game. His senior year, his minutes went down to 17 minutes a game. He was an okay shooter, in terms of average, but was a much better defender.

                        I stand corrected.

My point was basically he was closely associated with Roy Williams and yet has not figured out the game like Roy had.

I hope this doesn't mean Wes is letting players start or have freedom to select their own shots because the player beats coach in a game of HORSE.
Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

                            Intimidate! Dominate! Celebrate!

I am not sure that our players can beat anyone in a game of horse.
