Just saying, there won’t be a quick fix, no NCAA next year.

If?? Miller is fired by the end of the week. The whole team will be gone! Will be starting completely over once again!
I’d prefer starting over than the embarrassment of another season of mediocre basketball.

Wes has had 5 years to make the NCAAs. That is long enough. He won’t make it next year either.

I couldn't agree more. It just feels like we're spinning our wheels since Mick left.

When is the average coaching going to end?

Whatever happens, we have to have an established coach who nows how to win. We can't afford another up and coming coach who might be able to coach at the Big 12 level.

yeah starting over is what I hate and scares me the most, but I think we have enough of a brand/tradition and money, that a good coach can build it up fast...but if we become bottom dwellers, take away my shoe strings

This was a coaching error. Why not play Tillery late in the game? He was the best guard on UC’s roster today. Yet he sat the last several minutes. Inexplicable and inexcusable.

Well, what was Miller's excuse for not using Tillery at the end of the game?

In a close game, the weaker team will ALWAYS find a way to lose.

Man! What a way to lose a game. My guess is UC will get an NIT bid. I wonder if Miller will stay on until after the NIT.
Miller owed 9.9M if fired before 3/31.... owed 4.9M fired after 3/31. April fool day for UC if Miller still @UC on 4/1

$9.9M over 6 years if fired before 3/31. $4.7M over 4 years if fired 4/1. I think it’s worth the ~$40K per month to release him immediately.

I don’t disagree & I do like Tillery but he is prone to turnover as well. That being said, maybe 3 guards on offense to get the ball over timeline then back to two guards for defense ?

In the presser he said that lineup had closed out games this year. They also blew some games as well.

UC is in somewhat of a pickle. What UC owes Miller is just a part of it. Here is why. UC will more likely get an NIT bid. However, if it keeps Miller until April, it may miss its chance at the coach that it wants. Also, playing on TV in the NIT means money for UC. UC may not want to miss out on that NIT TV money and exposure. The way I see it, UC has some options: 1) it could fire Miller and have one of the assistants coach the team through the NIT while the school negotiates the contact with the new coach; 2) it could not accept the NIT bid and bring in the new coach and start over; and 3) UC could decide to keep Miller so that it keeps the team together, or as much of the team as it can keep together along with the new recruits. However, keeping Miller may upset much of the fan base and boosters.

Because of the portal system, playing in the BIG XII, and playing many games on national TV, UC is going to attract its share of good solid players. Also, new coaches will typically bring some players with them when they take the new job. Given this, the first option may be a good one. If a new coach comes in, who knows, he may be able to convince some guys to stay. Either way, UC probably will not have a problem getting some talent in although it may have to pay Miller money that it does not want to pay him.

Hopefully, next time UC will negotiate a better contract for itself.

Best thing about losing tonight is I don't have to watch this anymore.

UC may have made the NCAA with a UCF win, that technical on Miller turns out the margin of defeat. Ouch. Wes had a chance to match Mick Cronin by making the NCAA in his 5th season, not now.
