I and probably some more of you probably received an email from CJC today about the upcoming season. The key point of the email is that there are Season Tickets available still. If you're on the hype train about Calhoun, this seems like a good time to get in before the train leaves the stationBrent Wyrick

Candid Coaches: Who was the best coaching hire of the 2026 cycle?
The 2026 college basketball coaching carousel saw UNC, Michigan, LSU and a number of high-major jobs open up. Which hire is considered the best?
Who was the best high-major coaching hire of the 2026 cycle?- Randy Bennett (Arizona State): 32%
- Jerrod Calhoun (Cincinnati): 30%
- Michael Malone (North Carolina): 16%
- Bryan Hodgson (Providence): 8%
- Will Wade (LSU): 3%
- Justin Gainey (NC State): 3%
- Casey Alexander (Kansas State): 2%
- Luke Murray (Boston College): 2%
- "Jerrod Calhoun is about to become a household name. And a name that in a year or two will be rumored to leave for one of the blue-blood jobs that's available. I think he's truly underrated and will get Cincinnati rolling fast! He's one of those guys who had the opportunity to sharpen his iron at a lower level with limited pressure. Now he knows who he is as a coach and exactly what they need to be great. As long as Cincinnati is willing to put the dollars behind NIL, he will be the next BIG name coach to emerge!"
- "My gut says to go with Jerrod Calhoun. That guy can flat-out coach some ball and does it innovatively and creatively at a place that is STARVING for some success, so they will give him resources to do so. Strong recruiter, good coach, great resources, new energy there. Great hire."
- "Best hire should mean best fit for what the job actually is: knowledge of the program, recruiting, portal management, building a program day-to-day. Calhoun's done that twice, at two different levels, from the ground up. That's proof, not projection, in my opinion."

The Tip-Off Dinner is coming up on 9/23
I find this to be a very interesting choice of speaker.

CJC coached him at WVU and then at Fairmont, he made him the assistant.. He turned HC over to him at Fairmont. They are quite tight and Joe is a NBA coach of the year. Big time get here. The Tip-Off Dinner is coming up on 9/23

one more thought - what a powerful way to usher in the new era from the previous ones of defeat. What is this saying to the players, the recruits, the donors and the community. We have one of the most successful coached supporting our program. From Bob Huggins to Joe Mazulla this is a first class winning program. No more preseason talk if the HC would be fired after another losing season. SO FAR SO GOOD

Withholding judgment until I see the team play. With our experience under Wes, we had pre-season hype that didn't end well. Hoping this is not a repeat but we will know by the end of the season.Comment

I totally understand the caution. The thing is as I said at least we are encouraged more so than past seasons. There are some pretty big names helping the program too. It can't hurt the future. This is more than a one year restock as we had in the past hopefully.Comment
