Green Bay was picked to finish third in the Horizon League this season after improving their win total from 4 to 18 between Gottlieb's first and second years with the program. They beat D3 Lawrence University Monday night 94-51. They lost exhibition games against Wisconsin (96-77) and Marquette (87-60) before beating Illinois State (77-71).

6'6 4th-year forward Marcus Hall was a preseason 1st team all league selection after scoring over 1,000 points during his first three years in the program. He shot 40.6% from 3 last season on 6 attempts/game. Their roster is primarily composed of JUCO transfers, D1 transfers from other low/mid-major schools, and first-year players.
