Crickets are chirping in an otherwise empty field. I just got back from a week in Tallahassee. There was no mention of FSU and the B12 at all in the local media.

There is zero chance that ND will join a conference for football now. They've got a guaranteed path to the playoff and the Orange Bowl.

As a big 'EFF YOU' to all the other conferences courting ND, the Big East ought to sweeten their deal with ND the best they can (however they can) to keep the other sports in the Big East, even and ND gets to stay independent in football. At this point, what would it hurt?
Just make sure ND doesn't bail out, because if they do, we can be sure that without the Irish media darlings as a part of the Big East at all, the ESPNs of the world will push the perception that the Big East is just one step up from a YMCA flag football league and that somehow not having ND in basketball is a death blow to the league.

The chatter is similar to what was making waves a month ago, when Texas AD DeLoss Dodds told CBSSports.com that he had talked to Notre Dame about a similar scenario. That prompted Swarbrick a day later to say that the Irish were committed to the Big East in their Olympic sports and that he and Dodds are two people who often talk about the business.
