  • Power Six???

This article from TulsaWorld claims the AAC could break away with the Power Five to form a new athletic division. http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextr...09131440a.html

There are some merits to the article; however, there is a lot of ifs that need to be true for this to happen. I believe it is more likely that the teams who bring large victories to our conference over the Power Five will be plucked in a future round of expansion. The rich do not like the noveau rich.

If the plan is for the power five to leave the AAC behind, then Alabama considering a home and home with UC doesn't do much to support that notion.

True but they're looking for the best non conference SOS they can get. You don't get SOS by playing FCS schools which is why we want the game as well. Right now there isn't anyone out there in the P5 that has an open date and actually wants to play them. Seems to be either/or with other schools. I believe Penn St. cancelling on them is what created this open date for Alabama. Penn St., at the time, didn't want to play them and and then filled that spot on their sched. If that hadn't happened the Alabama possibility would be a non discussion.
