One of the benefits of the e-mail forum was that once I read a message I deleted it, and it was gone. A problem I have with the web based forums is that the messages stay forever, and if new messages are added to a thread you've already looked at, and were interested in, you go back (based i suppose on the listing of the date of the latest message, but then you have to look at least look at a bunch of old messages to find the new one(s). Is there some way to mark these things as previously read? (I hope that works, I tried to follow Jon's directions

Editing of your own posts should work. What happens when you click on the Edit button for your own post? And is anyone else having this problem?
