    George Gumbs Jr. Transfer DE

Gumbs has committed to the Bearcats after 3 years at NIU. He has a similar career path to that of Connor Barwin in that he started as a TE and they moved him to the other side of the ball where he took off with a few sacks and a bunch of TFLs

Decommitted after signing and ended up at UF. That's a new one on me.

i wonder if uc couldn't clear him on grades, etc. otherwise, if he'd signed, it seems really weird that they'd let him go that easy.

I had the same suspicion. Smells like an admissions issue.

UF is a pretty tough school -- you think Florida would take him but not UC? I mean it is SEC ...

It could be that the Gators came late at Gumbs with an NIL offer that UC couldn't (or wouldn't) match. Lincoln Riley took a similar last-minute flier at Brendan Sorsby, trying to get him on an OV to USC this past weekend, but Sorsby told him he was committed to UC.

This is the only other thing possible as far as I know.
