Signing Day Results Class of 2026

I'm going to make this easy since GoBearcats did the work for me. I was not able to huddle around the overheating fax machine to stay warm this year.

I think we had a pretty successful signing day to be honest. Seven Ohio guys in the class although only one local. More importantly some of the Ohio guys are from the central area around Columbus and northeast quadrant which is a place we haven't been all that successful in recruiting in general over the years.

Before anyone gets out the bullhorn about not enough stars on these guys, blah blah blah, we could have been Penn State. They have 0 commits because they have no coach currently. That could have been UC if we had let Satterfield go for some reason.

The thing about your comparison is that it is true for recruits. The question is when PSU gets a coach , and they will, how will they fare in the portal. How will Uc do?I am going wait and see as getting players is a whole different procedure today.

To be fair, UC has done reasonably well with the portal the last two years. It's just that the coaching staff has not coached those portal players to their peak performance.

I kinda like the philosophy to go after proven "starter ready" top talent in the Portal and bring in guys we can develop in the Monster Factory. There is only so much NIL and I appreciate we are spending more on guys who have proven they can play at the collegiate level, at least as far as paying recruits starter type money which is really only the high end 4 and 5 star recruits. That really isn't going to be a game we can win very often. It is a nice size class and we will hit on some of the underated guys.

What specific portal players do you think the staff has not coached well? Any specific examples?

On the contrary, Joe Cotton and Tyrin Tao helped the O-line become a Joe Moore Award finalist under the tutelage of Nic Cardwell. Xavier Lozowicki played well as the #6 lineman and is slated to start at RG in 2026, with Tao sliding to C. Cyrus Allen had a breakout season, went to the Senior Bowl and is rocketing up the mock drafts. Jake Golday came from obscurity at Central AR to become a stud who's going to be drafted, probably on Day 2. Brendan Sorsby was so good (despite local criticism) that he was rated the #1 player in the portal. TX Tech dumped a truckload of cash in front of him.

The corners and D-linemen didn't quite reach expectations but, aside from that, the staff did great work with the transfers.

There seems to be an announcement coming soon.
