I think he's too good of a match for Michigan. He'd fire up the fans, his offense would present major problems for OSU (see Florida). I don't know, maybe that's my red and black-colored glasses speaking.
When Rodriguez was going to go to Alabama, and Schiano flirted with whomever, their AD's had the resources to step up spending big time. We're just not there yet. Too much debt.
It's just a perfect storm. I really don't think there are 3 jobs Kelly would leave for, and Michigan is one of them. You're talking about the winningest program of all time that hasn't hired an outsider in 40 years. If it happens, it's just terrible luck for us, that's all.
Personally, I like Mike Thomas a lot. He was overwhelmed by the Huggins situation, but everything he's done since then has been spot-on. I think he's had replacements lined up since the day Kelly was hired. We're GOING to get a good coach. Mark my words.
If it happens, stick around and stay excited. This is a 5+ year process, to build a program that can recruit and keep coaches like Kelly. UC is a relative infant in regards to being a player in College Football. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Very well stated. I wish the UM stories could be discounted, but there is too much pointing toward BK being a serious candidate, and very possibly THE candidate. We need to be prepared for it. The site that reported his being number one has supposedly been very accurate lately on coaching changes. I feel BK is the strongest of the likely candidates, other than Miles, and I've been worried about this all along. I hope this ends soon.
I'd be willing to bet, if it weren't MICHIGAN, we wouldn't be having these conversations. If he doesn't get that job, I'd expect BK to be here for at least 3-5 more years.
Heh, they like beating Ohio State up there. And Ohio State looked ridiculous against Illinois and Florida.
Watch: if OSU plays WVU, they'll lose. Tressel hasn't figured out the spread.
Multiple teams in the Big 10 run a version of the spread offense or did in previous seasons. Tressel hasn't had any specific problems against any of them. ****, Tressel implemented one himself just last year.
I agree with you when you say WVU would beat OSU though. But it has nothing to do with an inability to stop the spread. It has to do with everyone's inability to stop West Virginia when White is healthy.

NEWSFLASH: BRIAN KELLY IS STAYING. A contract extension should be announced by the end of this week or early next week. I overheard that here on campus and in a newspaper. As soon as I find where it was at, I'll let you know. It is supposedly a 5-year extension with the amount not being disclosed until it is announced! BRIAN KELLY IS A BEARCAT for awhile!
Sure, but everyone has fits with the read option when someone like White (or Dennis Dixon) is running it.
Or Juice Williams. The difference is that the Buckeys look lost in their assignments on the read. Offensive linemen were making blocks 5 yards up field.
Cincinnati played the read very well with the soft zone IMO. Could have pulled it out, but that and $1 will get you a 1/3 of a coffee at Starbucks.
