Coach Kelly/Tennessee Rumors

I'm still confused why we are going to be so 'decimated' on defense next year. Sure we lose 10 starters, but at many of the positions there are backups who play 1/3 of the snaps and perform almost as well if not as well as the starters do. Sure there will be somewhat of a dropoff, but I'm hardpressed to see that our defense will have to be totally rebuilt. As BK says, "The next man in..."
Right, everyone knows that we have alot of seniors but people are freaking out about nothing! We will be fine everywhere exept maybe DB, I am worried about that!Comment

OK Keith, CBS sportsline reporting Kelly is in Lead for UT, go ahead and close it!!
Lets not deny the inevitable, we will move on if he leaves but lets not just refuse to acknowledge it.Comment

He does not even mention who are his sources are or where they are coming from. When all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail.Comment

Yet another blog post citing unnamed/anonymous sources. The reason things are quiet at UC is because they are preparing for Pittsburgh. They are not making calls for new jobs. This is simply Dennis' opinion...nothing more. Dennis' post borders on the irresponsible and does not IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM confirm that Coach Kelly is leaving for UT.
Assuming UC beats Pittsburgh and makes it to a BCS bowl, I would be SHOCKED if Coach Kelly agrees to meet with UT before the BCS bowl game. And remember that UC must give permission for this to happen. Coach Kelly cannot do this on his own.Keith Wedinger

I can't believe people get paid to write things that they are making up or getting from their "sources".In Mick we trustComment

ANYWAY, UC won't be any worse off than any other BE team next year - look around at who else is losing senior players: WVU, UConn, Rutgers, and on and on.
So stop the hand wringing because there will a lot of BE teams in the same boat. What UC will have is a little experience on defense, although not all first team, and an experienced QB in position. Take a chill pill.
And I'm with Keith: just shut the **** up unless there is a shred of truth to all the talk, which I suspect he would know before any ralphs or chrises on this board would.
And no, Combs is NOT ready for a HC job. Unless you're his agent, colrain chris...shhhh!The Red & Black shall triumph as they are struggling down the field. Oh fight for Cincinnati: McMicken's foes shall yield.Comment

Oh, yeah - we know that if it's on the Internet then it MUST be so...

Again I ask why would it be one of these? There are other coaches out there with actual head coaching experience that would be interested in us.
<sarcasm>Also if being on a blog makes a story true, then off I go to write a blog that Coach Kelly is staying a UC! And since it will be on the interwebs then it must be true.</sarcasm>Comment

This is absolutely, 100% FALSE! There is not one single report stating that Coach Kelly is going to Tennessee. The only thing that's been "reported" (and I am using that term VERY loosely) is that Coach Kelly may be a candidate. No one and I mean NO ONE linked directly to UC or Tennessee has come out and said anything about this.
So, please spare us this garbage. Any further posts that claim this to be true will be deleted.Keith Wedinger

Was this from the guy wearing the 'Drink till ya want me' shirt?
It would not shock me if BK left for Tennessee. If he does, I hope UC looks at Ianello from ND. He coaches the WR (done a great job), and is their best recruiter. We'll see what happens.
I will say this...I'm sure BK won't let what happened to the USF coach happen to him...wait too long at his school before jumping.Comment

Actually if Kelly is going to leave, it may as well be this year rather than later. He's one of those coaches who is supremely confident in his ability. If he goes, I look forward to watching how he handles life in the SEC against the big boys (not even Vandy is an easy win anymore). UT would have to back up the Brinks truck to get me to coach and recruit in the same conference with Florida, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, etc. It will be interesting to see the response of UT fans if/when BK is introduced as head coach - their heads will probably explode if the Knoxville newspaper prints BK's career coaching bio and his won-loss record (56 losses in 17 years). Winning at Grand Valley State, Central Michigan, and UC is NOT going to impress the alums with deep pockets at UT. Athletic Director (Mike Hamilton) will probably have to be placed in the Federal Witness Protection program if BK doesn't win right away. They don't tolerate 7-4 records at UT. BK will find out soon enough if he leaves.Comment
