No surprise about that. He told UC fans after the Louisville game he would be pissed if the Pitt game is not the hottest ticket in town, it is not yet a sell out.
If you can be at Montgomery Inn at 8pm tonight, be there to show Coach Kelly some love.
It could very well be that Kerry Combs will coach the team in the Orange Bowl this season unless UC fans take ownership in the football team. -
What is this big love affair with Kerry Combs? You aren't the only one that is actively wanting him as the head coach so I'm not trying to pick on you, I'm just trying to find out why people want him as the head coach? Are there not better candidates, with actual college head coaching experience, out there? Phillip Fullmer I heard was available and he has a National Championship ring. Is KC's resume better since he coached at a high school in the area?
Until our current head coach actually leaves, as in gets another college coaching job, let's not worry about who the next coach will be since it won't be up to the fans anyway. Let's show up to the game and root on our boys just like we did last game!Comment

Combs is a great coach. He was awesome at Colerain. He would be a great find because of his local recruiting ties. If we had to have a quick coach, he would be it. I don't think it would last beyond the bowl however. I think he should be promoted to coordinator in the coming years, to get him experience.I guess I can't use "Fire Zimpher" anymore!!!Comment

Whoever it is if BK's leaves, let it be somebody who will stay more than 2 - 3 years. BK knows his entire defense is leaving after the bowl game, and guess what, he will leave too.
You all know who my choice is. He won't leave, and he will recruit like crazy.

This is already well-covered ground. I'll gladly reopen this thread if we get a more official word (anonymous sources close to a program DO NOT COUNT). UC announcing that its given permission to UT to talk with BK does count. I suspect ESPNews is simply repeating a rumor at this point.

I just went to the UT blog on the Knoxville news website and as I suspected, the blog post mentioning Coach Kelly as a leading candidate references an anonymous source close to the program. It also states that the AD is still doing his research.
If Coach Kelly ever becomes and official candidate for the job, the UT AD must seek UC's permission to speak with him. And if that happens, I guarantee that the local press will say something about it.
I am going to reopen this thread but let's not get crazy here. Stick to the facts. I will have very little patience for stuff like "if we don't sell out Saturday, he is gone". And rumors of him being a candidate have already been covered.Keith Wedinger

keith....not kissing your a$$ here but thank you. i am tired of ralph and all of his friends opening threads with kelly is leaving....and tyreke is coming to uc......etc.....etc....... i will not believe anything that anyone says unless it comes from the u or the coach's mouth. this is really getting out of hand.
can we not enjoy what is happening???? our team is two games away from a bcs berth and we are talking about stupid ****. come on.
i believe in coach kelly as long as he is here. and when he leaves....i will still believe in the bearcats. everyone needs to take a step back......take a deep breath......shut the **** up....buy tickets....support the program that we know and love.....and bring the catittude back no matter who is coaching.
it is the name on the front of the jersey....not on the back or the names on the sidelines.

There are too many more important things to think about right now than rumors, beating Pitt Saturday being #1 on the list. And frankly if Coach Kelly can't finish this thing out now and get the Bearcats to the BCS then I will lose far less sleep if he bails anyway. If he can at least get us to the BCS then it will be good for the program even if it is more painful for him to leave.Comment
