No doubt Memphis is good, I think SMU is for real and think our offense will be much improved by the Temple game (and beyond) as we get healthy and simply more playing time. I also think our defense is among the best in the country as we face Memphis. I honestly think SMU should be predicted to represent the G5 on New Year's Six bowl game, at this point, not Memphis, though I like UC's chances as much as Memphis or Temple. Boise isn't out of the hunt nor is App St (though I think their tumble will be against S Carolina). SMU or UC control our own desitinies, if either wins out, it will be the NY6 selection. If not, it is likely to be an AAC team, but it will be close between that AAC team and Boise or App St. I hope and pray UC get's in, but would've predicted SMU for NY6 instead of Memphis because of their QB play. It's nice to see that the road to NY6 includes so many AAC teams as it speaks to the depth or our conference, which is on par with ACC and Pac-12.

Here's the Forde article that was mentioned.

With two weeks until the first CFP rankings are revealed, it’s time to consider the possibilities that would be the most appalling to the most people.

        Oct 27 edition:

CBS: Vs. Duke in Birmingham (It wouldn't be Jerry Palm without Birmingham) https://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...ls/predictions

Wow, so are ranked in the Top 25 for most of the year, and we end up with a turd bowl game?? Not happy about this.

            ESPN:

Bonegura has us in the Liberty Bowl vs. Texas which would be interesting to say the least.
Schlabach has us in Birmingham vs. NC State.

I noticed that they both have SMU in the Cotton Bowl. The funny thing about that is it is in Dallas and I guarantee that SMU still couldn't draw more than 5k fans to that game.

If we can't get to the Cotton Bowl, the Liberty Bowl would be a fine consolation prize!! I still think Fed Ex ought to pull their funding if the AAC can't get it as it premier bowl.

I love the new bowl projections on ESPN this week. One of their pickers has us in the Cotton Bowl vs. Oregon. The other has us in the Liberty Bowl vs. Texas. I really hope we run the table and make it to Dallas, but Memphis would certainly be a good consolation prize. It really shows how the national take is on us. It sure is nice to be forgetting the awful days of no bowl games with Tubbs!

The Cotton Bowl is suprisingly not completely sold out. There are resale tickets to be had. However, they currently start at $150 in the nosebleeds and range to the $1000+ range for sideline. Jerry World is pricey once you get inside as well.

The Liberty Bowl on the other hand is $75 to get in the door and that's not a resale ticket. That's the face value price. Sideline tickets can be had for $220.

The Liberty Bowl against Vanderbilt in 2012 (or so?), was a great game! Best bowl game I ever attended. Easy parking, not a bad drive, great venue. I'd be very happy with that game against Texas.

Beating Memphis at Memphis, after watching how we struggled against ECU on the road, is going to be very tough indeed!

CBS has us in Birmingham still vs. Duke now.

Stuart Mandell of The Athletic has Memphis in the Cotton Bowl as AAC champs, with UC playing Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl in Ft. Worth on 1/4/20.
